Re: Motion Tools

+1 for staying inside one ICE tree for as much as possible. Reordering might not be as simple as drag n' drop, but still simple enough to justify the benefits of being inside the tree. I can easily bring in other ICE nodes and play/test things out.

Here is what I get when just opening your file and changing cutoff to zero.

Re: Nasty Artefacts with Architectural Materials

Hi I think you can get rid of that dithering artefact by lowering your Cutoff values for refraction and reflection to 0. You can find those settings in your arch material under "Optimization". The default value is 0.01. And I think internally Maya uses higher sampling settings than SI when...

Re: Joe Compound

Thanks a lot for posting your compounds. They'll surely help me to learn a couple of things. I am looking at your ambient occlusion compound right now, and I wonder how did you come up with all those vectors you're using in the build arrays node? Where did you get those numbers from? And do we need ...

Re: What new material do you want Redi to host...

Jennifer was thinking out loud on the mailing list on how to distribute Adam Sales training. She mentioned it weights in quiet heavy with around 40GB.

Maybe you two could help out each other in some way.

Could you post one frame from each of your passes? That way it's easier to tell what's going on.

Re: upcoming: emPolygonizer - metaballs for SOFTIMAGE

I can definetly life with "a little" higher. :) Also, I can imagine it must be harder to code something that calculates/creates new polygons, instead of manipulating something, that is already there (fluids/particles). At least it sounds more difficult to me. Love your pointCloudRender so ...

Re: Shadow Problems

In your example, either turn the scene ambience down to zero, or render out a seperate diffuse and ambient pass. Then first combine the diffuse and shadow pass. And after that put the ambient on top of that.

Re: Shadow Problems

Bill, there are many ways to comp the shadow pass. Often, you might use it only as a mask. For example, take your diffuse pass, add a color correction, plug the shadow pass into the mask slot and then dial down the gain. You can also take the shadow pass, invert it and then multiply with your diffus...

Does someone has the old school water compound?

Hi I was going through the ICE compounds on the area, looking for Andreas Felix Gebhardts "Old School Water" Compound, which was available on the old |NET community (community.softimage.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=159). But I couldn't find it. If it's not against the site rules, could...
