Re: Open source Softimage!

I say bravo for the effort BitPuffin. I had dreams of making my own SI when Autodesk made that crappy announcement but my programming skills are far from that level. I have been using Maya, 3dsMax, and Modo for some time now, trying to replace my love for XSI, here's some of the things that have bee...

Re: What if Softimage died?

I'm not trying to derail the topic (and forgive me if this was mentioned in the previous 60 pages) but is there any chance of another company taking over SI? I'm not very familiar with licensing / software copyrights but does AD intend to just let SI slowly wither and die with no support? This softw...

Re: Softimage Creative (SIC) Survey and next meetup

Yes, volume rendering would be a HUGE help. ICE is so amazing but you can't do too much with particles/Lagoa unless you export it out to a different package to render. I don't think the answer lies within Mental Ray, although I know there are twenty or so people out there that are hanging on to it. ...

Re: Extrude and extrude and extrude and...

I probably have the time but I suck at ICE. I've been studying it since 7.5 and have realized that its still for programmers and people who are much smarter than me... I did make a few of the widget shapes with ICE modeling in hope that someone can make a library of which the POTENTIAL compound draw...

Re: Extrude and extrude and extrude and...

I fired up max and did some greeble examples. I'm attaching a screengrab (I hope you can see it, I always mess up attachments). Anyway, it shows the little control panel on the right. You can see the little "widget" shapes to choose from tetris style, the min and max size, height, density,...

Re: Extrude and extrude and extrude and...

Thanks Maximus. These seem nice too. It would be great to have a compound that could do what the Max greeble plugin does. Instead of being point cloud / emitter based it was more like extrusions on geo like the previous posts along with a little controller for complexity, taper, max and min sizes, e...

Re: SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description

I think this new release sounds interesting. This is in no disrespect to the developers, just commenting. As a VFX professional who has worked at a few studios, I can tell you that the new interface enhancements seem like a nice cosmetic addition but in the end I can't see it help anyone get the job...

Re: Corvette_ZR1

Nice work! Great job with the modeling. It would be nice to see some overall reflections. Especially in the windows and windshield.
