Re: LightWave Digital acquires LightWave - (A New Hope for SI?)
There is a youtube video on discord where they state that merging Modeler and layout will "probably" not happen. To me that makes Lightwave dead before it starts (Again)

Re: Blender Render Management
You should be able separate the different light set ups with collections, day, night etc. But it may get a bit painful to manage. You can also look at having different scenes within the one scene file, In the top right next to the render layers drop down there is one that says Scene, you can add lin...

Re: Blender Render Management
Blenders render pass system isn't as good compared to Softimage's but it is still quite useful. The workflow for setting them up is a bit painful. You can separate out parts of your nodes trees into AVOs etc like you could with SI. etc If you don't already know how, you may want to search up how to ...

Re: Thinkbox Deadline 10 nodes free
I was using CGRU another opensource application, Works well with Blender, AE, Fusion and Softimage, But I always liked Deadline, Better interface than CGRU and gives you more control over your renders.

Thinkbox Deadline 10 nodes free
If anyone is interested.
Amazon Thinkbox Deadline is now free for 10 render nodes. Used to be two.
Still works with SI.

Re: Best Blender 2.8 build?
Not sure if you can unless you compile an older version yourself.
Maybe a post on the blender forms might find someone that will share it with you?
The current one I am using is 2019-04-07 00:43.
If that helps I can always put it in dropbox for you. Beauty of opensource

Re: Best Blender 2.8 build?
They took out the transform gizmo in the last update, I am talking about the one with move, scale and rotate all on the one gizmo. When you first start blender you can choose a industry standard key map. By first starting I mean the very first time you start it. If you do see the option when you sta...

Re: Heeeeelp! :) Script for obj sequence.
This should do the trick. I cant remember the difference between the two addons, they may be the same with a different name But I used this back in the XSI 7 days to get fluids from blender into XSI I didn't create this, I cant for the life of me remember who did. If anyone does can you put their na...

Re: 8-bit , 16-bit and Float
I comp normally with AE, For most renders I will render out to .png 8bit. For anything that causes banding issues I render them out to 16bit tif.
Seams to work well for me and gives a nice balance on file sizes.

Re: Siggraph week only: LW offer
It was about two years ago, I now have 32gig. But my point was how much ram Lightwave uses compared to XSI and keep in mind with the split app workflow, you will use even more ram when you have a model loaded in modeler and also in layout. I once loaded a heavy object I created in XSI into Lightwave...

Re: Siggraph week only: LW offer
Im looking at Lightwave as well but its a struggle. I starting with Lightwave then moved to XSI 5 I think it was. Lightwave does some things well but its a nightmare in so many areas, Modeling is rubbish, its very slow with heavy objects. Just deleting a edge loop can take 5 seconds. Most of the tim...
