Re: HDRI Light Studio for Softimage
Hi, I'm not sure what happened to my website. I don't do much with it, though I thought I was paying the bills.
It's been a couple of years since I've updated the HDRLS addon. Most recent version is 55 (attached).

Re: Happy X-Mas from Mootzoid
Happy Christmas to you too, Eric. I have also gotten a lot of use from your plugins. I hope your future endeavors are very rewarding. May I suggest putting a donation button on the Mootzoid page? Not to generate income, but to give downloaders a way to thank you. Also, have you considered making the...

Re: Arnold to go rental-only
Another great feature of Redshift is that you can cut your render times by adding more/better gpu's. I've found a linear acceleration up to 3 cards.

Re: Affinity Photo Windows Beta
I've been trying the Mac version. So far it seems like a reasonable PS replacement for my photo needs. The only annoyance so far is slow RAW loading.

Re: Where can you still buy Softimage?
B&H is definitely a legit store. But that page is for SI2013 so my guess it just hasn't been updated in a while. Were they still selling boxed versions then?

Just sharing this: Marcos Fajardo on the Arnold renderer and Autodesk’s recent acquisition http://www.3dvf.com/actualite-16817-interview-3dvf-rencontre-avec-marcos-fajardo-createur-solidangle-et-arnold-renderer.html Thanks. Even though 3DVF is a French page, "L'interview est en anglais, sous-t...

Re: What are your thoughts about Houdini?
Thanks for the feedback guys, this is very helpful :-bd Rork - about the restriction for resolution; it's unlimited res for single frame renders. 1920x1080 restriction is only for rendering out sequence. BenR - I did check on the specificities of Indie license. So as a freelancer like yourself, you...

Re: What are your thoughts about Houdini?
Hi Fianna, I am also a freelancer and have an Indie license. I would be very happy to pay extra for an indie+ version which could use 3rd party renderers (Redshift here). I also have a question about the $100,000 gross revenue limitation for 3rd parties I create content for. First of all, when someo...

Re: Redshift gotchas?
Just thought I would pipe up: I am using Redshift on a Windows 10 machine and have not noticed any problems, at least since the drivers started supporting wddm 2.0 on older cards. Obviously that isn't the case for other people.

Sounds interesting. Do you have any more details of the requirements? Is there a deadline you would need it by for a project?

Re: Graphic Cards Again...
Well Geforce will give you far more "bang for the euro". I haven't run into any situations with DCC's that really needed the Quadro.

Are you really thinking Quadro rather than Geforce? If so, why?

Re: Alembic managment addon
Hi Mirko. I might be able to help you depending on your time goal. One idea that occurs to me is whether Fabric might be a useful platform to build this on. It comes with an Alembic extension and then the Alembic browser could be Spliced into Softimage or other applications as needed. Anyway, just a...

Re: Autodesk Stingary
The interesting thing here, is that Autodesk are charging for Stingray, but you can get Unity and Unreal for free. However, Autodesk don't seem to be charging a royalty on anything made with it, whereas Unity and Unreal do Actually Unity doesn't charge royalties. There is a free "Personal"...
