Re: Transition: Max versus Maya
Just a few quick words about 3ds max, in no particular order... .... All in all, it works - but how! The question is, do you like such a workflow and UI? Time travel back to the nineties... Frankenmax... they really earn this title (more than Maya)!!! If I start imagining I'd have to go back to thi...

Re: survey on visual programming
Really awesome of you that you're asking us for feedback. I have high hopes of you guys. I wish I could do something to help you guys on taking over the planet. My feedback: - UI's for nodes which can be customized via QT. Also viewport interaction via manipulators. In ICE you can't customize the UI...

Re: Javascript book recommendations?
Looks promising, for sure, but I had my mind set on a book (or alternatively an ebook I can load into my e-reader). Are these tutorials downloadable (for a fee, obviously) or only viewable "on site"? If they are downloadable my tablet might be an option. If there only online, the lack of ...

Re: Javascript book recommendations?
What about a video training? Pluralsight for example has excellent training for javascript, jQuery, HTML5 & CSS3. The video's clearly explain everything in a hands-on matter which makes it easy to remember. Javascript is really easy to learn, but I have to warn you it's not just javascript you n...

Re: Found an OpenSource GPU fluid simulator.
Awesome. I'm (navier) stoked about it. Really cool that it's open source. There's some small mistakes in the sim where you have some floating particles ignoring gravity. I hope they implement rigid body collisions soon, otherwise it's not very useful for us. But it is on the wishlist of the develope...

Re: Autodesk Apps Store for 3ds Max, Maya and others
Darn I had plans to create a similar service myself. I am not sure if I should continue or not if this becomes successful. The system I had planned would be a little different. - Wysiwyg portfolio for the product. - Ticket system. Submit bugs/requests directly. Similar to github. - Wiki system. Dire...

Re: Softimage 2014
Of course the irony here is that, we all know the story and what happens to the Ugly Duckling? Ducks have an average life expectancy of 8 years or less. So it probably is dead now :(. But Swans live longer. Ah it was a swan! Thank god, now we'll have a few more precious years before it dies. Ontopi...

empty links ? (to me) They removed the wikipage. Luckily there's a version system in the wiki. EDIT by owei: Link removed THIS time, dear AD. Please be more careful in the future ;) It's quite sad they are promoting the new help menu and installer as a new feature. The script editor changes must ha...

Re: Ice particle on curve
You can use the "UV to Location" node for that. You'll need to get data from the Y position of the curve's uv's, which are automagically generated. It accepts scalar values ranging from 0.0 to 1.0 which gives you a location value. A value of 0.333 wil give you location data on 33% of the c...

@luceric – As the Admin tasked with manual account activation I think the main influx already has happened over the last couple of months. Ever since the XSIBase ran into severe problems at the end of last year, many have already taken the time to register an account here as well. So yes, there has...

[C++] Edge's vertices direction
I want to create a simple and fast apply thickness tool just to learn some c++ during the progress, nothing serious. Never touched c++ before so I wanted to do this as my "hello world" project. I've learned a lot so far but I'm currently stuck on something probably very simple. I've filter...

Here is the backup (compress 123mb, real 600mb) of all the forum, its a mess, but nice to have for consulting in your hard drive. http://www.mediafire.com/?i1vqznartel1gp9 Literally the entire site ? What would be nice is if it was organized and hosted online. As xeraphine states it isn't possible....

Thanks Taro. I hope I can test it soon. Small utilities like this improve the usability of a product a lot.
