Re: Autodesk retires Softimage

I have been using Softimage for years now.

While I am still a neophyte, it's sad things turned out this way.

So much more to learn about SI and so much potential...

Where to learn advance Softimage related skills?

Hello SI-community, 3D novice here. Like the topic has suggested, what are some good ways to learn advance softimage techniques, especially ICE? While pursuing a degree in Animation, the school I graduated from only offers Maya as the 3d software. Thus, most of my softimage knowledge is acquired thr...

Re: What if Softimage died?

I voted "Continue using Softimage for a few years to come." Nothing people haven't said already. While Softimage is not getting as much attention and care as its sibling programs. It is a powerful tool none the less. Unless a revolutionary 3D software is developed, I would continue to use ...

Re: offical features for softimage 2014 & we have a NEW logo

The new modeling tools in Maya 2014 comes from NEX (a popular plugin), they did the same years ago with polyboost in 3dsmax (they just renamed it as graphite modeling tools)... Re: offical features for softimage 2014 & we have a NEW logo

Just finished reading all 11 pages of comments and wanted to join the discussion. I started using Softimage since XSI 6 and thought it is was an amazing program for it's time. XSI 6 had an intuitive and powerful modeling system, a minimalist and ease to use interface, and many other useful features....

Re: Cool rigging reel of Jan Pijpers.

Hey YKChou, Linear Algebra and some analytical thinking skills are very welcome, but it's like everything, you don't need to be an expert to start something new. Just be open to learn new things on the fly and try to stay away from procrastination :) I love this video, some great tips for any aspir...

Re: Cool rigging reel of Jan Pijpers.

Woah, I haven't seen a lot of rigging reels, but this is amazing!
On the side note, I am interested in the Tech Artist Side and Rigging aspect of 3D art,
what are some of the knowledge a professional rigger shouldknow? Is CompSci background required?
Thank you in advance.
