Autodesk to lay off a further 13% of its workforce
Autodesk is to lay off 13% of its workforce, or around 1,150 jobs in total, as the company continues its transition from sales of perpetual software licences to a rental-only model. The job cuts – the company’s second major sets of layoffs in under two years – are expected to come through a combina...

Yeah, funny that happened after H16 was announced
I wonder what/if it means anything for Max (or Maya)...

Re: Maya LT 2016
there are screengrabs and videos floating around the net (cgtalk and others) showing people using both new max and maya.
funny/sad thing is AD tries hard to ignore that fact and clearly won't comment on the features shown/not shown in the videos because new version haven't been announced yet.

Re: How long will softimage be Competative...?
.... My tip if you are a studio. Take a very close look on Modo or Cinema (yes Cinema, they have quite a lot coming in the next years). But in general Maya is the way to go as an artist (or Houdini / Maya if you are on the technical side). Modo isn't hard to learn so I would also get into that one....

Re: Animated weight map baking
Hey thanks!
That's exactly what i'm doing. However, when I apply Rendermap attribute to my geo, I can bake one frame at a time only - as opposed to batch baking the whole time range. Instead of pressing 'bake' for each frame, I want SI to automate the process.

Animated weight map baking
Hi guys!
A quick question: is there a way to batch bake animated weight map to texture?
I have about 500 frames of changing weight map that needs to get baked to a texture sequence and I don't feel like doing every frame manually...
Thank you!

Re: Some news from Siggraph
Yeah, it is. The studio I work in decided to get two additional seats of Maya. They figured the cheapest way to do that is to buy SI and upgrade it to the full Suiteojo3D wrote:
In any case, it does sound like a great deal for studios.

Re: Some news from Siggraph
as i said before , naiad is a node based software so its need a graph editor , graph editor in Maya is too messy , not user friendly as ICE , if they import all Naiad nodes inside ice i don`t need any other nodes in ice . i need a good UI for create Naiad graph. Have you seen Maya's Node Editor? It...

Re: Some news from Siggraph
There's a very interesting post I found (by Luc-Eric@ http://www.mail-archive.com/softimage@listproc.autodesk.com/msg14036.html ) Autodesk is doing the right thing in that context. What they have done with Naiad is add expertise about scalable, distributed, out-of-core simulation that's also platfor...

Re: Some news from Siggraph
Because they are killing the product and they obviously dont say anything so they can squeeze everyone money till last release that probably gonna be the 2015 one. It's funny how almost every news somehow gets derailed into 'the death of SI' discussion ;) OK, so here's my take :p Honestly, killing ...
