It would be great if Autodesk just putted Softimage on the Appstore like Composite and Matchmover. Such a great software, fun to play with. Heck, they said that they'll reinvest time with Mudbox. Screw Mudbox, invest in Softimage, even if just to keep it alive. :) By the way, I almost bought this on...

Yeah, I'm not a lover of the rental system (as my avatar shows), but $80/year is pretty cheap for a software that's usable, good in some parts and still used in studios.

I don't have money at the moment, but at least I liked that there's a possibility. Hopefully some users can get their hands into Softimage. :)

Just an update on this subject. Apparently a guy was able to sell his license of 3ds Max in Europe.

So maybe there is hope. But it would required someone willing to sell their Softimage license, which I believe will be hard. :)

Now they are looking for funding to turn it into a feature film. I hope they pull it off ... Blender would improve massive after a feature film production. :)
