Re: Kristinka Hair Tests
hi thanks for the reply. I'm not asking for a simulation function, all i want to know is which node in the current K Hair system is most suitable to style the hair to look like it collides with the mesh (maybe a few follow nurbs nodes perhaps), this is my 2nd time using k hair so some experienced su...

Re: Kristinka Hair Tests
hi first thanks to Mathaeus for the wonderful k hair. i'm really new to ICE so forgive me if my question sounds foolish XD i've got this hair set up but some hair is going into the character mesh, i managed to detect hair whose emit location is inside the mesh and delete them, but i am not so sure h...

Re: XSI failed to save scene before system failure
ok :-( try 2 :-) you can try to deinstall the GPU drivers and back to VGA mode. Restart it if it's still crash, it's not the GPU driver :-) after uninstalling the GPU driver and rebooting, Windows auto-installed a default video driver, at this point SI would still not launch the viewport before cra...

find numbers in mesh name and convert them to integer
needed to make this for my creature's tail, hope it helps.
put a modeling ice tree on any mesh, connect this to execute port and then you can use intValue to access the integer found in name

Re: math function
man you're awesome!! thanks.rray wrote:Hi-
this is not supported by ICE.
I wrote an addon for this and similar cases: see here (For your case see example 4)
There's also a link in this thread which shows an addon-less method (but only works in object context)

math function
hi peeps, how can i make an array of values that contains the incremental sum of another array?
for example, say i have an array [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], how can i build an array at run-time that looks like this [1, 3, 6, 10, 15]?
many thanks

Re: XSI failed to save scene before system failure
@whurst i did delete the entire pref folder altogether but still it would crash, but thanks anyway. yea my experience with xsi has always been smooth up until this crash thing. @xsisupport yea i meant it didn't lead anywhere for me to eventually fix the problem, you're probably right i'm pretty sure...

Re: XSI failed to save scene before system failure
yea i've done that, didn't fix it. that's why i'm somewhat convinced it isn't a video card issue. but again i haven't tested it with any other PC apart from my laptop and PC, so if it works elsewhere it must be something about my hardware.

Re: XSI failed to save scene before system failure
hi Julius, thanks I've tried that a million times, even reverting back to earlier drivers prior to the problem occurred, to no avail :( maybe I will borrow a different card and try it that way to know for sure if it's a video card issue, but it seems odd that the problem would happen to both my lapt...

XSI failed to save scene before system failure
Hi, does anyone have problem launching Softimage? it crashes before loading the viewports with a message "failed to save scene before system failure", Process Monitor shows the last loaded .dll is timemanager.dll, after that XSI loads nothing and crashes. Somehow, with (and only with) Proc...

Re: ICE - worms crawling in skeleton
thanks FXDude, i've barely touched Maya and i think maybe this isn't the best place to start, perhaps i'll do some modelling with it on my next character. so here's what i've done so far with the factory ICE nodes, did some searching around and found some free compounds like emTools and LKFabrics, i...

Re: ICE - worms crawling in skeleton
What if you had a really long curve or a few curves squiglling around the skeleton that you could weight to your rig like a regular mesh and have wormy models deformed by curve to them which you could animate back and forth unevenly in accordion along their lengths? You could also use a model of th...

Re: ICE - worms crawling in skeleton
hi owei, thanks for the swift reply. i've uploaded 2 screenshots, 1st is the rough sketch, the worms go inside and wraps around the skeleton (only the extremities of some bones are exposed) , acting like muscles holding the bones together, the concept here is that the creature is really just the wor...

ICE - worms crawling in skeleton
hi dear SI community, i'm trying to make a creature that is a pile of bones being held together by tentacles (or big worms). I could just sculpt them in and have them static but i'm really digging the idea of giving a slow turbulent animation to the worms in the final (and possibly dripping goo as w...
