No doubt you can model anything in SI but the level of subd you are wanting it is best to use Zbrush just for faster results without alot of effort. You should try this addon as well GEM . Is is a Fractal Terrain Generator for XSI the addon has an option for importing images called "Image Clips...

Interesting i never read that i have always did it by duplicating the object and merging the two objects together and then selecting and deleting the original objects points then deleting the curve.

I agree with Squizmek using Zbrush 3.5r3 you can apply the wrinkles by using texture alpha map and paint it on your mesh.
It is a little bit more to learn but it is well worth it if you are wanting a high poly model to look more natural.

Try deleting the 6 edges that go around the object...press and hold Shift+Alt while selecting the edges with middle mouse button, this will let you select all 6 edges to delete them. For a larger coverage area just hold down mouse scroller button and move the mouse and it will increase and decrease... You can also click on the Sym button to have it paint on both sides.

Ok i got it now thanks to your example was able to fumble through it...the missing element was the object/visibility properties there is a key at top left corner to stamp the visibility options to the animation...

I understand everything you did the only part is how to make the objects visible and invisible while animating them.
Also i tested this script today GP_easy_hide_unhide which works but is not the best way.

Ok i have been able to store my source animations and now im mixing away but i still need to learn how to make my 3 objects appear and disappear in my annimation sequences...any suggestions would help.

I have never found a problem using boolean in SI 7.5, even chooping the hell out of the same object seems to work fine...
