Re: Maya 2017 with Arnold

Why oh why would you still use MR instead of vray, redshift or arnold. There is just no way that MR still makes sense. People love to complain instead of appreciating that they get a free Arnold license now. And to mention. By no fucking word this announcement says that you cant install Mantal Ray (...

Some more hairy stuff

Thought I post some stuff I did a while ago. Was responsible for the hair creation (and later simulation) (sorry no Softimage though) https://vimeo.com/140513589[/m...

Re: 45° Versus 90° which fits the requirments of rigging ?

For correct skinning 45 might be better cause Shoulders and Chest are in neutral pose there.
You can even see it in your image. At 90 shoulders and chest are stressed and not in neutral position.

Re: Why an Indonesian studio choose Blender over 3ds

Pro: No license costs Con: Not enough professional artists available. Try finding a professional TD, Rigger or Generalist with 5+ years working experience using blender and see how many applications you'll get. (for employment and freelancers to scale for projects) This is all you need to know in te...

Re: Autodesk acquires Solid Angle

Marcos can promise as much as he wants.

If Autodesk tells him to stop developing for Softimage cause they dont want to invest that money then he has to stop it.

And about Marcos
If there are enough digits on that check everyone of us would take it. No need to complain or blame him for it.

Re: Modo 10.0

It would be better for them to fokus on useful stuff.
Can't see Modo beeing used for any game related production when companies would have to choose between Modo and Maya.

Re: groomtools - hair layering compounds

Would have been so nice back in the days when someone would have written a plugin to actually groom ice strands.

The workaround to connect it to S&H is just not really that elegant.

Re: Autodesk announces 925 layoffs

Well Autodesk is still super small compared to a company like Microsoft.

And since they only care about stocks they will always try to work with as less people as possible to reduce costs.

Re: Softimage freelance pool

Well we could create a new mailing list with a bit better name which is not bound to Softimage (I would love to see a general 3D list which welcomes all different artists).
If all softimage mailing list artists would migrate to it there wouldn't be any need to copy the old one.

Re: Autodesk reports sluggish 3rd quarter due to subscriptions

Well I guess for us Users this could be good or bad.
Either this means they invest more to produce better Updates and sell more licenses again or it might mean they cut some jobs in the future.

Re: Maya Hair/Fur artist needed!! URGENT!

Couldn't find an email so I thought I just answer here. Please check my portfolio: http://www.marioreitbauer.com Most of the hair grooming was done in maya (actually not xgen but yeti, I used xgen for private education but I am not that deep into it compared to Yeti). I am also into Arnold. In case ...

Re: Mailing List broken?

Has everybody migrated already, leaving nothing left to say about Softimage, or is the Mailing List down again? ;) Well ;) All features are known, no newcomers who learn the software and need some answers. So somehow, everything is said. Could invest some time taking a look into Facerobot, but it m...

Re: Syflex announces Sylyn

Was about time that they bring out something new. Since ncloth I would say they lost a lot of ground on the cloth front.
And the EOL of Softimage wasn't pleasant for them neither I guess.
