Re: emPolygonizer2 version 2.0 is released !
Price is relative, and given that this an ICE compound, the amount of possibilities it opens are huge. Each one of these "power nodes" extends the size of the sandbox greatly. The things show in the videos are just the beginning IMHO. Plus, if you even had one job that needed this plugin i...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
I'm not the largest AD fan to be honest, but I have to admit that so far the proof is in the pudding and things look good IMHO. Even some other users on other platforms have reluctantly conceded to me that SI is doing just fine under AD and looks really good. So Chinny's not that far off the mark as...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
Maybe Hirazi was saying the last crisis was the acquisition crisis from Avid to SI, but if you go back in time there are two more for Softimage right (SI->MS, MS->Avid)? So it's kind of like any fertile ground or trade route I guess as they seem to produce quite a few...altercations and new leaders!...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
Well I agree on both sides of the coin here (well the reasonable coin) that there is nothing wrong with good debate and some airing of grievances, and also understanding that companies are in turn never going to be able to achieve 100% customer satisfaction on all fronts. There will always be those ...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
I fully agree Hirazi, and I've seen things go badly both ways in terms of user base interaction. It's really a chicken and egg situation in many cases, so we need to stop arguing which came first (aka blame everyone and no one at the same time) and work to resolve the issue on all ends as productive...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
Bellsey, thank you for posting Jennifer's list response. Yes, education and content/user profiles that are created by studios can help, in fact a lot more than a banner ad on the area. That is, these are esp. helpful at getting potentially new users interested in SI and expanding the opportunities f...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
After thankfully getting a break from being anywhere near a computer or the internet for several days and gaining some perspective, I kind of feel like now I've been using a thought process that is the equivalent to a shot gun for a situation that needed more precise targets. So I apologize if I've ...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
I guess I agree, but see them both as part of the equation. First, at least in the most recent incident, there was a marketing promotion, the premium bundle, that was released with SI looking like companion software. This whipped up the frenzy. Then, as you've so correctly pointed out, there was no ...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
Are we really going to view if SI has Go-Z or not as a true indicator of the "troubles" with softimage? No offense, but I just don't see how that is an indicator, even if it is a missed feature. Besides- Pixologic and Autodesk ARE competitors so I doubt they really want to help them at all...

Rez007 - I had almost no problem with your post, sans the part that had a problem with MY post! Let's just call it good OK and move on- I am sorry if I ruffled the wrong or too many feathers.

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
YES, so AD PR/Marketing blunders, mis-steps, and even lack of is the topic of this thread- and hopefully ideas/points that can be raised to HELP them sort it out and let us constructively be heard (is there still hope for this thread?). For starters- take the questionnaire on the autodesk site, and ...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
And to quote Rob Powers..... Follow your bliss It all makes sense now, they toss out Jay, put in Mr. Powers, and distribute LSD to core members while forming a compound for groupies in Texas. Maybe I just don't see it in LW...and maybe it's because I didn't drink the cool aid and trance out at the ...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
LOOK, my thread was never meant to be about "alternatives" to SI. I know I don't have control over it any better than any other thread can remain on topic. I LOVE using SI 99% of the time (which is a lot more than most programs), and don't really see an alternative out there, at least for ...

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
Xsi has been going nowhere for the last 3 years apart from a few titbits thrown in( again to pamper to maya and 3dmax pipeline). No offense, but while the development of SI might not suite your needs, to argue that over the last three years it has stalled or slowed down is ridiculous. You're even l...

Re: Umm I think we meant why doesn't SI have its OWN!
Hey, no problem eh Hirazi? I think most of us agree, even if the SI team can't speak, that AD's marketing of si could be better, no mater how they want to color it. The way it is currently handled leads to a constant back lash from the some of the user base who see it as proof that si is the "r...

OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well
While I now don't believe SI is no longer under development, going to be killed tomorrow etc., the marketing of si is still 3rd rate...even less than mudbox AFAIK. Since the softimage employee's hands are tied, I'd like to hear someone directly involved in AD marketing explain just why si is so poor...
