Re: Anisotropic Pattern Effect
Hey Kzin your material is really top notch, ive been looking for awhile now on how to do a proper anisotropic effect. Im just kinda confused on the rendertree setup, if possible for you to elaborate on that a bit, and also how did you manage to do that anisotropic texture in photoshop ?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Rings
Thx guys! Yes its all in metal ray. And now that I look at it, I should've probably positioned the left ring with a bit of off balance, I was just trying too much to make the both of them visible to the camera lol.. The modelling is pretty straight forward, just the diamond was a bit tricky, I follo...

Re: Render channels gamma?
Hey Rob thanks for the links, I read those awhile ago, was actually looking for those specific articles to refresh my memory lol. The thing that got me confused is the compositing part. I didn't know that Nuke would apply the gamma correction automatically and most of all I didn't know openEXR was r...

Re: Render channels gamma?
Well I kinda fixed the problem. There's no sky, just studio setup with planes. Its cuz the 2.2 gamma setup in XSI (for linear worflow) doesn't get written to custom channels I output from Arch material. It only gets written to the actual pass. But its ok now, I render it in exr format and can comp lat...

Re: Render channels gamma?
Good point Rob. As of linear workflow I'm already familiar with it (there's always room for more training tho). It's the compositing part that Im a noob at. Im trying to render custom passes, but Im new to this, so Im still abit struggling with it. I found some good tutorials on the web,but they're n...

Re: Render channels gamma?
Hey Kzin thx for your reply :) Just to get this straight, I still keep Softimage in Linear with color management set to 2.2 gamma but I dont write the gamma to pass, I just output the framebuffers, composite them then gamma correct them? Its just that Im used to straight output, then adjust in Photosh...

Render channels gamma?
Im basically trying to output a couple of render channels for compositing, the thing is I think the gamma doesn't get applied to the channels. ( I did enable "Apply display gamma correction" in pass options). Render looks fine, but as soon as its finished with FG and renders the image, it ...

Re: Diamond ring
Thanks Max you re always helpful ;) Here is my latest render. Ditched the HDR, did a studio setup, 4 panels, 1 photometric light and 1 spot light pointing into the diamond, for more shininess. Did a fast compositing in PS, already much more satisfied, I'll try to tweak the lighting from here. One th...

Diamond ring
Hello people I would need some critics and probably tips to finish my projects :) So after struggling with softimage for 2 days, and reading posts from XSIbase i finally achieved somewhat good results for a diamond. I used the dffraction shader and thx god for Maximus who provided the render tree se...

Re: Mustang 69 GT
Yup, everything is set up for Linear Workflow. I think the problem is with the colour, cuz since im in LWF,I try to make it look proper black colour (forgetting that It's supposed to be brighter/washed out, since it will be compensated in PS when I apply gamma correction 2.2), but the actual output ...

Re: Mustang 69 GT
Well the problem is that the HDR is not mapped to a sphere, its directly plugged in the pass shader as environement.. I tried looking around and for now I stopped on the Linear Workflow and gamma thing, Im doing some test but its either black like now or way too washed, Im gonna read up more on the ...
