Re: Break shared Texture_Projection_Definition?
Hi Valentine , didn't find an easy way to make this local. Double clicking like GeomApprox doesn't work as you already wrote, even the MakeLocal scripting command doesn't do anything. Probably it's been forgotten about. Only way I see is there's an option "always share" in the duplicate o...

Break shared Texture_Projection_Definition?
Hello brave XSI folks ;) Today I stumbled on a problem which I haven't been aware of even existing during my 15 years of Softimage usage. I created a mesh, added two texture projections, unfolded it via Unfold operator and created several duplicates of it and edited the respective meshes. For some o...

Re: Caching particles randomly works
I dealt with this issue again today for about 3 hours. Softimage being killed by Autodesk will not make me switch to another software, but I seriously considered it today because of this particle problem. It's really insidious times 10. Anyway, using the cache manager made it work properly. 100% Ac...

Re: Zybrand Grass 3
The emitter mesh needs a weightmap to contol the grass density. These are all follow-up errors, it would be nice if ICE would trace them back to the thing that caused them. Hi Reinhard, Thanks for your quick reply! Unfortunately I already tried to fix the problem by adding weightmaps without luck y...

Re: Zybrand Grass 3
Quite a while since the last post on this thread... ;) Gonna try anyways: I got some serious Problems getting this compound to work on 2014 SP2: Create an emitter mesh (Grid), create empty pointcloud, add ICE tree to pointcloud, grab emitter mesh via Get data, add Zybrand grass, connect emitter mesh...

As expected: it workedMV- wrote:Oh, you're welcome! Please let us know if it worked for you ;)
BTW: Those kind of problems are pretty common when using Softimage. Anyway, thx again for sharing your fixes

Re: misss_fast / lightmaps broken?
Hi Valentine, I came across the very same problem not so long ago. I've been lucky enough to find a solution on my own. The indexes and secondaryports seem to change/switch when you tweak a compound, causing the lightmap computation to fail. What you have to do to fix it is quite simple : 1/ Export...

Re: misss_fast / lightmaps broken?
I've so far only tried this with the provided SkinSSS & SimpleSSS and about 10 frames of animation, but that seemed to work without a hitch. (ATM I am nowhere near my workstation, but I'm assuming the fact it worked with the aforementioned compounds means it should work equally well with custom...

Re: misss_fast / lightmaps broken?
Could be that I'm misunderstanding you again, but I'm not certain it has much to do with the compound ports either, because plugging a "misss_lightmap_write" into the provided SimpleSSS and SkinSSS compound does seem to work flawlessly. I assume your writable source is set to "map&qu...

Re: misss_fast / lightmaps broken?
Okay, I reinstalled my good old XSI 7.01 to check this out, but wasn't able to reproduce your problems "right out of the box". This obviously doesn't mean, there is nothing wrong, but I could easily render out multiple frame with both misss & both compounds (with extra lightmaps added...

Re: misss_fast / lightmaps broken?
Well, it seems that XSI isn't somehow capable of feeding lightmap data into a lightmap_write node through a compound port. at least not all the time. When I copy the lightmap into my sss compound it works again, the lightmap is updated and the image is rendered properly. The weird thing is: it worke...

misss_fast / lightmaps broken?
Hi, I lately got some weird errors when using a lightmap in conjunction with misss_fast. The lightmap did its job for a while, but suddenly it stopped being updated/rendered. When i fire up a render MR tells me: // ERROR : PHEN 0.7 error: misss_lightmap_write: Lightmap 16777275 is not writable, abor...
