Re: A new softimage user

I say learn both:) If you can afford to spend some extra time doing at least some assignments in both apps, that's great! Knowing both will only benefit you! Personally, I'd be against NOT learning maya - whether somebody likes it or not, it is an industry standard (esp. in character animation)... I...

Re: Spoiler Alert: NO SPOILERS ANYMORE

Mark's very recent post from his blog at the Area: Hey All, Sorry for crickets on the blog lately, truth is just dont have much to write about. With Softimage development being moved to Singapore and me moved to a home office in Los Angeles I dont hear a whole lot of news that I can report as strang...

Re: Modo 701 around the corner

My thoughts exactly, Sil3. While I never considered Modo as my main app, I'm starting now:) It's come a long way and I think it may soon be able to replace pretty much anything as an all-round DCC application. Every release is huge and exciting. For me personally, it's definitely high time I started...

Re: the future? (was: the "frustration" thread)

Thanks for the reply Graham. I think where we are split is on the value of what the XBR pr does. What the XBR webinars and openness demonstrated to Max users was "Hey, don't worry, Max is not going anywhere, we are fully committed to its development, we can't say what the features will be, but...

Re: SI 2013 sightings

That's really interesting whats going on in AD right now. When I read about oldies leaving SI team my heart stopped for a sec, but then I thought that maybe it's not the end of the world and hopefully the new guys will pump some fresh blood into SI. I guess time will tell. It would be a pity if SI s...

Re: cmiVFX - Demystifying The Render Tree - Softimage Training

Thanks for info, i bought some tutorials from CMivfx in the past but there are some things i dont like, for example the streaming system is bad to me, i want a local copy because i'm not always connected to internet, also all the tutorials they promote have a ridicolous and small preview, you cant ...
