Re: One year after the XSIBase...

What I most miss from XSIBase is those great articles with industry professionals. I learned so much from those interviews and got the feeling Softimage would rule them all! L-) And I think the forum had more active users. I wish si-community had more active users. But ... I do prefer the visuals of...

Re: What if Softimage died?

All i'm saying is that today for my point of view what's make the force for softimage and ice is this possibility to control in a single graph(or multiples organized graphs) the generation of the geo, the kinematics, the shaders (with custom attributes), this permits to devellop and imagine things ...

Re: SOFTIMAGE|UeberTage 2013 Videos

There's always people complaining about stuff, but don't take it into consideration. I think that all the people who are not in Germany and are able to see the video presentations are really happy for it. That's the important thing. I was able to follow and get some nice tips along the way, so thank...

Re: Job Market in Montreal

It's a simple question, it can easily be answered within the OP question. There is nothing derailing about the question. :| I guess it's the tax incentives. MPC opened a studio, Technicolor also. So I think that's it. And you have a lot of other great studios in Montreal. Definitely Softimage for g...

I guess he's only letting people know that a new sneak peak is coming, not that he'll want to change.

Re: What if Softimage died?

I've only been doing this professionally for about 5 years now, but in my experience, learning multiple packages is just part of the deal anyway, not to make you marketable per se, but just because productions so often require you to jump between toolsets. It's unlikely that any single package will...

Re: Job Market in Montreal

I guess generalist. When we are starting out, anything is good. I think you need to work in the industry before you say: "I only love doing particles/animation/rigging". So I think the generalist approach would be the best option. And I want to limit to two major packages because if not, p...

Job Market in Montreal

Hey guys ... I tried asking Luc-Eric but he said he's out of touch with the production studios and gave me idea of asking it here. So ... how is the market of CG and VFX in Montreal? Is it more Maya based or there's good jobs for Softimage as well? I have a friend who's thinking of going to Montreal...

That Houdini has great particles we know ... I'm expecting more stuff in different areas I guess. But the teaser is good.

Re: What if Softimage died?

While the cookies are baking, I'll just chime in and say that I opted for the second option (continue to use Soft as-is). This is simply because the end of 'future' development on a product has no bearing at all on what it's capabilities are in the present. We were just having that discussion at wo...

Re: Softimage Creatives London user group

The SIC Softimage Creative Event - Stina and the Wolf by Foam Digital is an AMAZING video. So much great work and tips and everything. Very very inspiring. And really nice to see lots of great Softimage work on it. I guess as long as the universities keep pouring Softimage students, there will be sp...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Yes, I would consider Houdini, it's a very package, but alot would depend on the type of work I might be doing, and the technical resource I might have. I would try and use as much Maya/Soft as possible before then looking at Houdini, if I felt it necessary. Same for C4D, I know it's Mograph toolse...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Ok, well that's pretty much put me on the spot. :) If I was setting up a studio right now for film, tv, or games work, I would go with both Maya and Softimage, but Maya would be my main core 3D software though, however it might depend on what type of work I was doing to which I would mainly use. I'...

Re: What if Softimage died?

So ... money aside, if you could pick the perfect companion to Softimage, what would that be? Maya, Houdini, C4D, Modo, Blender? I mean in a world where Softimage will continue to grown.

So beautifull and simples. It servers to show that you don't need all high poly millions of sh*t to make a beautifull image.

Congrats man. Love the mood, the lighting and the 'world'.

Re: What if Softimage died?

If you take someone with Softimage experience will the learning curve be as hard, or will there be as many complaints using Maya ? GoneBadFx - When you want to do complex things, will you be singing the same tune about Softimage ? If you sat in front of Houdini, how would you react ? Actually I enj...
