Re: What if Softimage died?

The point I've been trying to make is that we actually do alot to push various products and alot of those activities aren't perhaps obvious to people and many just judge us purely on whether a software has an extension release, or they don't see a print ad in some magazine. Also, you can spend all ...

Re: What if Softimage died?

So still beating dead horse here .... Guys realize, nothing will change how AD behaves about SI. It is pure economy, SI is type of product that can get only this level of investment, if you did not realize this after all these years, well I do not know what to say. If you want better releases, more...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Now oddly, and people here might contest this, Autodesk haven't stopped talking about Softimage, we continue to produce marketing materials and include it (along with our other solutions) when doing events for industry or channel. So there is actually alot of information out there from us, together...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Yeah, it's not dead. The problem is, so many people believe it is. I heard a discussion in a max company recently where someone asked what software would be dest to buy.The answer was " with max you get a lot of pligins, with maya you get many jobs and softimage is dead." No one in that co...

Re: What if Softimage died?

I changed the color, hopefully it will make more sense :) Um, sorry, I still don't get it.... :ymblushing: I was talking about the option to keep the manipulator inside the viewport even if the object is outside the visible area so you don't have to pan the view to select a handle of zoom in on som...

Re: What if Softimage died?

ICE is the only really strong point (for now) that SI has so it is logical to choose that path if you want SI to survive. Sometimes I really do wonder if ICE has as much relevance as Softimage users tend to believe. It was a great idea at the time. but after its apparently final kick (ICE Modeling)...

That's cool! I've seen a post a while ago of someone in a job forum looking for a teacher for (no joke) "Autodesk Investor". :p

Create Copies from Polygon Mesh and subdivision

I'm trying to copy an unsubdivided polygon mesh with the Create_Copies_from_Polygon_Mesh node. after struggling with copying UVs and a broken image node in the rendertree I now want to subdivide (geometry approximation) my result and/or my source but I'm getting this warning: // WARNING : Wrong elem...

Path of favorites is absolute

I just come across a minor issue, which is not a but but something one should be aware of. Links in the favorite section of the ICE node list and the rendertree shader list do not link to items inside the application but to the presets, spdls or compounds on your disk with an absolute path. That mea...

Re: union overlapping spots

Maybe topolizer or polygonzer can do something for you. It may be worth a look. Maybe Eric has an idea:

I also remember he made a tool once to convert a mesh into vertexes without the faces, maybe you can use that to remesh, but otherwise I've no idea.

Re: Houdini 13

$1995 for all those features (everything except simulation stuff if I'm not mistaken) is a great deal. The only thing keeping me away from Houdini right now is its modeling workflow which is clunky and unintuitive (as far as I can tell at least) coupled with a complete lack of tutorials regarding m...
