Re: Maya 2017 OS's?
You can install W10 and roll back to W8.1 (it's saved for 30 days), just to have free W10 assigned to your computer, if you would like to upgrade in later time. Otherwise you will lose free upgrade. Once you roll back to W8.1, you can do what I done, install W10 as dual boot, and test it once in a ...

Re: Softimage with Maya/Max 2017 "Transition" Question
I sadly can't help you, but I would advise you to NOT await any replies in this thread, but to take this question to Autodesk directly (and report any reply you get back to us). We were told the "Maya/Max with Softimage" license would remain indefinitely for users "on" subscript...

Maya 2017 OS's?
I have a real quick question...does Maya 2017 work on Windows 8.1? There are a couple of hours left to go to Windows 10, which I was planning on not doing, and want to stay with Windows 8.1 for right now, but I just saw that Windows 8.1 is not listed on Maya 2017 system requirements. I thought that ...

Softimage with Maya/Max 2017 "Transition" Question
Hello, As some have probably guessed from my recent posts, I am watching my perpetual license of Softimage like a hawk. :D Now that the "transition" is in more of a full effect, I had a question regarding the licenses we were issued for that transition period. This would regard the "M...

Re: Maya 2017 with Arnold
@Helli... Guess I rubbed you the wrong way, and its nice to see that others cannot have a different opinion than yours. I never once said that I didn't like the new Maya 2017. In fact the addition of Arnold is great, no complaints here. What I didn't care for was the abrupt change of no Mental Ray, ...

Re: Maya 2017 with Arnold
Everything I have setup in Softimage and in Maya is Mental Ray based. I assume Softimage will remain unchanged because it is EOL, and Mental Ray was with that. Moving forward with Maya though, very disappointing with the Mental Ray issue and a network license. This should have been a 2018 move, not ...

Re: Maya 2017 with Arnold
So, if you have a network license with extra nodes of MR, that just disappeared, right? Every time I look forward to a release from Autodesk, I always get disappointed somehow. They should have left an overlap with Mental Ray for at least a year...

Re: Autodesk Perpetual+Maintenance Transfered to Sub???
Just wanted to follow-up with what I found out in case anyone was curious. I heard back from Autodesk, and they did verify that they changed the wording used a couple of months ago in the Autodesk account pages. Everything else was unchanged - same licensing.

Re: Renderman 21
It looks great, and it seems like they are shipping their actual production/movie shaders along too, which I believe was not the case with earlier versions...I could be mistaken though.

Re: Autodesk Perpetual+Maintenance Transfered to Sub???
Does anyone else by chance have a perpetual license of "Maya with Softimage" and on Maintenance, that could please check their account to verify? It would be much appreciated.
Thank You.
Thank You.

Re: Autodesk Perpetual+Maintenance Transfered to Sub???
Hi rray, thanks for the reply. Yeah, just a little over a month ago, it was literally written out as "Perpetual+Maintenance", and now it is just written as "Subscription". Everywhere I look on my account there is no longer any mention of the word "perpetual" - totally a...

Autodesk Perpetual+Maintenance Transfered to Sub???
Hi, I was just logged into my Autodesk account and was looking at some things, as I had a couple of support tickets being worked on. Just about a little over a month ago, under the section "Billing and Orders" (on the left nav-bar after logging in) it said my license was "Maya with So...

Re: "Disaster in progress – Autodesk’s all-rental plans..."
@FXDude, I fully understand what you are saying and I pretty much have the same viewpoint, I was just referencing the first post (link) that people might think that the rental program is bad right now, but these transitions take time to be profitable - not for us - but for Autodesk. Obviously, if th...

Re: "Disaster in progress – Autodesk’s all-rental plans..."
I saw that too, but I wouldn't look into it that much yet, as that is most likely expected. As you can see, 2017 Q1 is going to be far less of a drop. I expect most people (whom are not on classic Maintenance Subscription) are going to use their latest perpetual version as long as possible. Once the...
