Re: Matcap shader for Softimage
Hirazi Blue Perhaps - I haven't tested this however - equivalent/analogous to the workgroup location of (unsupported legacy) cgfx files in a new folder "[workgroup]\Application\msl\". Spoiler alert: THIS IS HOWEVER PURELY GUESSWORK Thanks Hirazi that worked. Sadly I also got some random c...

Re: Matcap shader for Softimage
Hi thanks for the shader. Helge Mathee also did a MatCap shader 2009 I think. Which I used a bit. So I attached it if anyone wants to take a look. I got a collection of textures. The zip got 13MB so I would need a filehoster if anyone is interested, its over the limit of the forum attachments. PS: I...

Re: Windows 8
Windows 8 does bring alot of nice features. I had it on a laptop for a couple of weeks.
The only thing I dislike is, that I can´t switch of the Metro UI, I don't like it and I dont need it so please give me a control to switch it on or off.

Re: SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description
I can understand the argument that you can´t just implement any feature right away because its always a risk. But like Kzin pointed out there are features which exist since (i think) 3.7 and we still don't have access to them in 3.10... lets take progressive refinement as an example (I think its cal...

Re: SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description
Yep thats exactly what I meant about the viewport. I still like the Idea of HQV and it makes sense to me and is a nice feature, but also would like to see a bit love for the current "standard" viewports.(again if even possible) And for the last part.. I also dislike it when Softimage never...

Re: SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description
grahamef Yes, you can manipulate a mesh, etc., in HQ mode. And just to clarify, you don't need to connect RT shaders. The standard shaders have been adapted to work automatically. For custom or third-party shaders, you would need a corresponding MetaSL block to emulate their functionality. Thanks f...

Re: SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description
I talked to quite a few ppl(friends and other artists) and the most important thing was being able to see normal maps and procedural shaders in the viewport. And they always take performance over quality. And when I heard the first hints that there will be work done on the viewports, I hoped for an ...

Re: SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description
I wont comment on the release and features before I didn't tried it myself. Also I don´t understand why some ppl are bashing so hard at the dev team or even say its the worst release ever, I don´t think so, and I will be very happy at the day when I can download it and play around, like always when ...

Sounds nice. Looking forward to more leaked or official info. :ymhug: Also interesting, and only because we love to make up theories : "From the SI quote" In addition, better interoperability with Autodesk® Maya® 2013 software and Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2013 software "From 3dmax" Fin...

...We also took the "maya/SOFTIMAGE/MUDBOX/MOTIONBUILDER" suite because of the very very good priced offer back then.... Any chance you could share how much the upgrade was? I was looking into this the other day with my reseller for Max and it seemed to be higher than I remembered...now $...

Re: WTF??? Autodesk snubs Softimage in GDC schedule!
Sorry to jump in here and I have to say I didn't follow the full thread very closely but I have to free my head now because its getting silly. For the start about these selling numbers, installed seats whatever. One interesting fact would be how much these numbers changed when you introduced the Maya...

For me that would be a very handy tool if it comes someday or another.
I hope it will be sooner than later
Edit: I meant the retiming tool.

Re: Kinemocap
Hi I used the Kinect once for a project but I used Motionbuilder and the Brekel kinect freeware http://www.brekel.com/. So I didn't use the Softimage plugin. Its fun to play with and you might get a few motions out which you can use but its still too limited. (maybe if they manage to use more than o...
