Re: Luxology releases "modo 401"
...i wouldn´t be as strict about that. Modo has some pretty descent tools and workflows like a way of modelling SubD in Symmetry which is WAY more intuitiv than XSI´s way of doing that (clone, duplicate, -1 Scale, hide....stuff like that is anyoing) and also the renderer with its preview function is...

Re: Questions about Linear Workflow and realistic lighting
First of all: You´re welcome for that comment. I mean...the info you offered there was really worth a thank you. Now on to the theory stuff: How do you render out the different channels? I´m used to compositing my final shot out of diffuse channel, reflection, specular and so on.... When i render ev...

Questions about Linear Workflow and realistic lighting
Hi there, i´m on my discovery-tour on linear workflow and so far i´m quite impressed about all the new details and facts, that i´m confronted with. It kind of starts making more and more sense to me, allthough there are still some misty fields... I´m starting this thread to collect some of your expe...

That´s some awesome piece of work you got there, isn´t it? It amazes me, what people like you are getting out of ICE. Keep it up! And btw: Thanks for making this one available to the public for free. I couldn´t stress it enough, that this is generosity i´d love to see more often from bigger companie...

Re: Minigun
Really funny piece of art :) The design would suit some kind of comic-terminator, as the nature of there combat-style would compensate the lack of logic in that design :) But it really looks good nevertheless ;) A wire would be really interesting, as it looks very smooth and clean and so i hope, tha...

Re: Work in Progress: Backyard
Indeed...the foreground leaves need some polish...but you are developing this to a really great piece! I would think about sharpening and detailing the wall-texture about more, as it´s coming out a bit blurry at the moment. Detail is also important, if you are planning to use DoF, as it is always a ...

Re: And now for the BRILLIANT news...
I think with this load of content...he should have more than enough time to think about a new adjective for a new update, as it is really overwhelming, what is offered there already. Thanks alot for the ICE-Stuff...will be my first download...and afterwards i´ll have a look into the rest! You are do...

Re: Work in Progress: Backyard
Interesting approach, that you took there...but what´s the benefit instead of giving each frame it´s own mat and UVs?

Re: Clio 2009 for "Audi Filter"...
Most easily done in Post-Processing... The Method for doing this, that i know, is done by splitting the base-image in its three channels. Then you can offset the channels in different directions and merge the image later on... The offset-amount can be driven by a gradient so that it becomes stronger...

Re: knit the strand
Oh my gosh...that´s nothing but awesome!!! I had a look into that stuff some days before...but haven´t had enough time to do something more serious with it. But as soon, as i will find some spare time from work, i´m going to start with some furniture...so this could become some stuff for you to show...

Re: Old skin (NO SSS)???
For skin the best is still to use the ez_fast_skin_d shader. And there are some really good explanatory webpage on mymentalray.com featuring each aspects of the shader. I can´t find anything about that shader on this site. I tried the search in the Shaders-Section as well as in the forums and side-...

i never ever wanted to assume, that you are an idiot. If my reply got you the feeling, i apologize for that. My only intention was to sum up my ideas for you...and the impressions i got, while following the discussion between you and letterbox. The replies from him and also mine aren´t about "g...

Re: Old skin (NO SSS)???
first and foremost i am writing a reply here, because the atmosphere in this thread is becomming rather quirky,....so i would suggest to let everything calm a bit down. Considering the above-mentioned problems, i DO find the links and the hints of Letterbox very helpful as for making believeable ski...
