Re: have one pointcloud avoid another
Hi Paul, it's the first scenario rather than the last. It needs to look as if whoever is in the boat sees the ship coming and decides to move clear to avoid being run over. And a ship at full sail can move pretty fast compared to some guys in a rowing dinghy, so they will tend to do this way ahead, ...

have one pointcloud avoid another
Hi people, I thought (as I always do) this would be simple to do but here I am :P I have some animated points emitted in one pointcloud and I'd like for them to be pushed aside by the animated points emitted by another pointcloud (in my case, its some boats floating on a river that need to move out ...

Oh, thanks Hirazi! I just gave up on installing PyQT last week after a dozen or more failed attempts. You are here just in time

Re: Maya Hair Plugin - GMH2
Very nice and generous indeed, FXDude. Like you said, there's lots of ICE-stuff around for making hair but nothing focused on a user-friendly workflow. Sure you'd be able to somehow get done what you want but not without loads of digging around and trial and error. All of which you'd likely have for...

Re: Clarisse iFX 3.0
Hey Rob, NNois, I hadn't seen this thread. Too busy working in Clarisse... :) Yeah, as you said, I'm using it in production now as a companion to SI. Mainly for it's ability to hold huge complex scenes. We have to do a city, complete aerial fly-over type of shots, has to hold up in detail for quite ...

Re: Calling All Softimagers
Completed. I'm curious too about the % of SI-users that visit here, or how many are on the mailing list. Speaking for me personally, I'm using Soft every day and it feels not one bit outdated or obsolete or whatever - I can still get into a rage just thinking about what AD has done, eternal mother*e...

Re: Softimage Explosia FX released!
Hi Hirazi, a quick runthrough for EFX to RS volumetrics: Make a new scene, create a EFX basic smoke or fire from the top menu. Plug the EFX export VDB node into the top tree, after everything else, and set the output path (you can also add an ICEtree above the last one to do this, the point is you h...

Re: some info about substance designer
I feel like rray - I want to believe it is indispensable allright, but there's something about the product that makes me wonder what to do where with it. Or with what part of it. Or why it is split into three parts anyway. Just one step away from brilliance?

Ah, you're right, that works too, the 'reparametrize' function. I'm off to incorporate your stuff into a compound now, tweaking around. Thank you so much!

Re: fitting randomly scaled particles neighbor to neighbor
Brilliant, Mathaeus! Many thanks! I'm so close now - the last thing to tackle is even distribution. My subcurves are totally uneven but the starting point (houses along streets) dictates particles evenly placed along the curves. I'm using NNois 'Generate on Curve' for this, so if I could use the poi...
