Not likely we'll share the tools. It's what gives the company an advantage.
Kraken will be open source and will come with basic solvers that will allow anyone to build a biped. However the Hybride solvers stay at Hybride.

Re: current Fabric Engine usage?
Yes as long as the data can be pulled out of the scene and set as needed. I don't have experience with either but I don't have any reason to think it wouldn't work. Let's just say we can use them in Softimage and Maya so I'm extrapolating. This is the biggest thing that Fabric has over anything else...

Re: current Fabric Engine usage?
We're using Fabric heavily at Hybride. Most recently and to a very large extend, for crowds. We'll share details on that when we can. It's impressive though. What I can share: We built a rigging pipeline around Fabric Splice so we could create solvers that would run in Softimage and in the crowd too...

Re: Introducing Canvas - visual programming for Fabric 2.0
It already has presets that you can save out and re-import and re-use. They can be custom functions or sub-graphs (compounds in Softimage terms).

Re: Some compounds don't show up in ICE tree left pane
I constantly have to hit the refresh button to get things to show up.

Re: ICE node or compound to python
No. You'd have to write your own ICE Tree parser. It's a huge mountain of work. Not to mention, most of what you're going to do in ice is going to be much, much faster than Python.

When you download Fabric, it comes with a folder of HTML documentation.

Re: Arm effectors & symmetry constraints?
Probably the combination of having multiple options for the symmetry and not being able to determine the correct offsets automatically.

Re: Arm effectors & symmetry constraints?
The symmetry constraint has offset params that you can adjust to get it to align properly. I did it on the Species PropRig. Be aware, the symmetry constraint does NOT like scripted processes on controls / object with symmetry constraints. That constraint is probably one of the most unpredictable and...

Re: Bitter sweet Siggraph
Obviously you're aloud to talk about whatever you want. :) It was more of an expression that I think people need to stop making sweeping comments (like when they did for Softimage) and that many here have a very skewed view of Max. Nobody liked when people were talking about Softimage going EOL from...

Re: Bitter sweet Siggraph
Yes if you are going to stay with Autodesk stick with XSI and Maya. Max is probably going the same fate as XSI. At least that would be my bet. Any arguments to the contrary would be met with 2 year old videos on the brightness of Softimage's future. I will be learning c4d instead as it is widely us...

Re: Bitter sweet Siggraph
There is really no reason for any studio to show up at siggraph and make a presentation on how they're using Maya as their main animation tool for this or that production. Not only boring, it's spoils the magic and is self-defeating. When that does happen, it is usually because there is some sort o...

Bitter sweet Siggraph
It was a bit bitter sweet this year at Siggraph. Softimage got more mentions this year than any other year I've been at Siggraph since 2007. MPC used Softimage for animating / simulating the air craft in the end battle sequence of Guardians of The Galaxy and obviously Lego was all the rage again. Al...
