interactive car rig
interactive car rig
Ok,
I'm trying to make an interactive car rig to learn a bit more rig/simulation, and I have two problems :
firstable, when I use a fixed constraint between two simple cubes, all is fine with default settings, but when I apply the same thing between the four little cubes you can see in the video, and the big one in the center, all is shivering... The only thing I found to solve it is to raise to 100 the substeps number in the physx dynamic operator. Is it normal ?
My second probem : I applied a hinge constaint between my wheels and my little cubes. The behavior of the wheels seems ok, but hinges are rolling all the time....
What's the problem ?
here is a little video to show you concretely :
thanks for your advices.

Re: interactive car rig
Ok,
I experimented a bit more, and it seems that shakes appears only when there is a significant difference between the respective sizes of the objects.
If volumes are approximately the same, there is no problem anymore...
any idea please ?

Ok, so it seems that simulation specialists are not on si-community ;)
I try a last question as I didn't succeed on driving a specific rotation axis of an active rigid body. Is it possible ?
Thanks

Re: interactive car rig
Did you see this article on andynicholas.com ? Building A Car Rig
Re: interactive car rig
Thank you, I've seen it, but my goal is to build a rig able to do things like that :
That's not the case of the Nicholas's one.

Re: interactive car rig
What are you using for your RBDs simulation ?
I'm making a falling car (a simple one) kind of "ragdoll" with Momentum and it's working good enough atm.

Re: interactive car rig
I'm using native RBDs simulation tools, not ICE.

Re: interactive car rig
Did you manage to get somehing working ?
Re: interactive car rig
No, I didn't find any solution to constraint the simulated wheels orientation during the simulation.
Maybe ICE is the solution, but I'm a total beginner with it.
