Good morning, si-community!

It's sunday, the sun is shining, it's a lovely day... guess I'll close the shades, get myself a coffee and spend the day in front of the computer :-B
Okay, enough silly jokes :D
Yesterday I got the "go" from François V. - a frenchman who just finished his graduate thesis film called "Amock" - to show some extracts of it in which emFluid2 was used. It's a really cool "B-movie + The Evil Dead + Young students discover something creepy in the basement" short-film. I just love that kind of stuff! Of course it has nice CG to look at. The short film is not yet available for everybody as it will first be screened on several film festivals, more information can be found on this web site: www.amock.fr.

Here's the link to go watch the extract à la emFluid2 and a screenshot:

Issues with Softimage 2010 and emFluid2

Post by Mootzoid » 19 Sep 2009, 11:15

Hi people!

As you of course already know Softimage 2010 has been released.
With a new XSI / Softimage release often come changes in the SDK which can affect compiled plug-ins such as emFluid2, emRenderPointCloud and emPolygonizer.

Here a brief description of known compatibility issues concerning the above mentioned plug-ins and Softimage 2010:
  • emFluid2 (and emRenderPointCloud?)
Unfortunately there are some severe issues for at least emFluid2 when trying to edit its nodes or compounds in the ICE Tree. :( These issues are NOT due to the plug-ins but to a bug in Softimage/XSI.
I already mailed with Softimage a few weeks ago, so they are aware of the bug and I am hopeful of a fix in the near future. :ympray:
In fact, the most recent beta version of Softimage already has the bug fixed, but I don't know when (and if) Softimage/Autodesk will release it's next version / service pack.
  • emPolygonizer
This one exists in two different versions, one for XSI 7.01 and XSI 7.5 and one for Softimage 2010.
In other words: this plug-in works fine with Softimage 2010. :)
Cheers,
Eric

Now that SI 2010 SP 1 is released, the question remains: did "they" fix the aforementioned emfluid2 problem or will we have to wait for SP 2 (or 3, 4, 5... :D )?
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Hey guys,

Here's the answer and the good news: Yes! emFluid2 works perfectly fine with SI 2010 SP1!
No need to wait for further Service Packs. BTW: The other plug-ins also work fine with SI 2010 SP1.

@opentarget: please check the emFluid2 documentation chaper 3, here's the link:
emFluid2 v. 2.25 documentation

cheers!
