Select From WeightMap (BG Weight Map Editor)

Post by Hirazi Blue » 06 Dec 2010, 19:55

Bradley Gabe presents his "Select From WeightMap v1.0.0" plug-in...
There have been a few implementations of this kind of tool released over the years, here's another one.

The basic functionality is:

- Select an object with at least 1 weight map
- Run MCP>Select>Select From Weight Map
- Pick what kind of component you want to select (points, edges,
polygons)
- Specify the weight map
- Select the selection rule (greater than, less than, in range)
- Move the slider

The main gist of this version of the tool is the interactive feedback, as
you adjust the slider your selection result changes.
For convenience, I added some buttons to turn weight map display on/off in
the currently focused viewport.

BG Weight Map Editor

Post by Hirazi Blue » 07 Dec 2010, 09:52

The tool mentioned above quickly evolved into the "BG Weight Map Editor"
- Anyone who spends a lot of time tuning weight maps for custom
operators, face rigs, shape blends, etc might find this to be a useful time
saver.
- This version does everything the Weight Map Selection Tool does, but
now includes weight editing functionality.
- This is useful for selecting specific components on a mesh and tuning
their weight map values by adding or setting absolute values.
- I've included a new command that builds an ICE operator to display the
weight values for tagged vertices on your mesh.
- If you select different weight maps, it updates the ICE Tree and
changes the reference so your numerical values to match.

You can download it from its new home at XSIDatabase
