I looked for this (or something similar) but wasn't able to find anything useful.
What do you need it for specifically? Did you already contact the author of the script himself?

I need it for saving a lot of custom meshes (such as bolts, nuts etc.) and using them during work (ok, i can always import .obj files but script is much better). I have already wrote email to the author, but nothing. :3

hi!

Why not build up your own library of custom commands? It´s quite easy to do, only with a very little scripting. Take a look into the PlugIn manager. There are many tools that will make it really easy to create your own plugins/commands...based on VBscript for example..

cheers,
oliver

Well, I think I found a similar (very old (xsi 5.1)) tool, called "JR_CreatePresets".
The web page of this one xsiaddon on the author's website seems to be down however,
so I'm unsure if I can distribute this (as I found it in my own archives also).
:-\

very late edit: download instruction (from Author's site)

I must have some code somewhere on my old machine that did something similar, maybe I can cook something out of it

Here's an obj library importer. Might be want you wanted.

You'll have to create an ObjLib folder Under (UserFolder)/Data

Creates a menu in Get>Primitive

Folder structure in the ObjLib will be recreated as the menu structure in Get->Primitive->User Object Library

Works for wavefront obj file format only

Meanwhile I have emailed the creator of the JR_CreatePresets Addon. His nice & prompt reply was that there was probably some technical glitch. He would look into it, as soon as he had the time, and would bring the webpage (and download) for JR_CreatePresets back up. I'll keep you posted...

No, I meant a glitch in the webpage, not in the addon... :-

The page describing the JR_CreatePresets still isn't up due to technical difficulties,
but there is an easy way to get it nonetheless,
by "circumventing" the description page and going straight to the download:
JR_CreatePresets
(RMB & "Save (Linked Content) As" and rename the ending from ".xml" to ".xsiaddon")

Now why didn't I think of this yesterday? ~x(
