Here is an alpha version of a paint tool that doesn't need weight maps to deform a mesh. It's far from finished but is usable for painting push and smoothing. To install, copy the dll in your plugin directory then run this jscript command in the script editor: LivePaint()

Some things you need to know: only 32bit for now RMB to chose between push and smooth shift drag to change the brushopacity control drag to change the brush radius it only work on freezed objects undo will revert the object to it's state befor freeze there are many bugs, use it at your own risk — Have fun.

local backup: LivePaint.32.dll LivePaint.64.dll (copy to a Plugins directory)

One suggestion that comes to mind, it would be super awesome if this was merged with the tweek tool. The less switching back and forth the better. But I am sure this would not be easy task.

Cheers,
Matt

May I ask how did you solve undo problem? I'm in same position, that is for particle brush plugin I set iceattribute values and obviously undo doesn't work. Do you save pointposition array in some backup array and save it somewhere when tool exits?

Great plugin! :)

Something like the maya sculpt feature, especially the smooth/relax brush is missing for too long in softimage, so this is awesome, thanks man!

Maybe any updates on the missing symmetry feature?

This is exactly what I needed right now. Thanks for this plugin. The ALT LMB option would interfere with ALT navigation. If only everyone could leave the ALT key alone... ;)

this is really great!

i get an error when exiting the tool. not sure if the red circle should show the opacity, but it always stays the same size. and the tool seems the disappear randomly and not showing up when the mouse is over the mesh. is this happening to anyone else? or am i missing something?

thanks!

hey ahmidou,

i tried to reproduce it. but i couldn't really track it down. since the mesh was only a regular grid i don't think it's of any use to you. : ) the widged appears as soon as u use it the first time and only after that appears when hovering over the mesh.

the red circle would be intended for the opacity right? because it's not doing anything for me at the moment.

maybe it would be good to have the brush widged active as soon as the tool is active? just a thought...

and here's what i get when i exit the tool.

# ERROR : 2268 - This function is missing:
# <function: paintDeform_DoExitTool>
# <path: W:\SI_WG\2013\Application\Plugins\paintDeform.64.dll>

but overall this is really cool man! thanks for sharing!

I'd be happy to pay for this if the author would finish it. I'm sure everyone would chip in from here? Would love to see 2-3 more brushes added to it!
