LK Syflex Skinning?

Post by rray » 08 Feb 2013, 03:08

Does anybody happen to have some information on what this interesting looking plugin does? I found it on the mailing list and wanted to write a little entry on rray.de but there was no description that went along with it: LK Syflex Skinning ..
Thanks!

This post in this thread seems to be the one he originally posted it in. Not a lot to go on there either, but maybe you get something from the thread context it was posted in. Otherwise you could always write Leo a PM here.
Hope this helps (a little). ;)

You can download LK Skinner here: http://leonardkoch.com/

Cheers Leo, I was having a look at it earlier with ICE syflex on the deformer but could get it to work only a few times, then the deformed mesh stopped following the deformer, even though I went back to frame 1.
Weirdly enough, it continued working when the view was in wireframe mode and the deformer mesh selected. Will have some more looks on this tomorrow maybe I find the reason.

Interesting. That hasn't occured for me yet.
If it happens with LK Skinner too, then please let me know.
Please just discard LK Syflex Skinner. It is a miss-named and inferior version.

I suspect it might have something to do with the Softimage syflex integration because when using it on a normal deformed sphere, it works every time. It also works when I do a extract all polygons on the syflex mesh and then bind to that (LK Skinner or LK Syflex Skinning had the same effect, as did using ICE syflex and "standard" syflex). Maybe they did some trickery that's not compatible with ICE.

Btw feature wish :ymalien: I think what could be pretty cool if the points would move around in the reference frame(s) of their closest point(s), that way the compound could be used for example to bind things like buttons to a simulated cloth
