Hello
Seems insane, but after scouting all the way back to 2008 to find a solution seems that there is no way to pack multiple objects uv into a single uv space out of the box (unfold isnt working), so i am here asking if someone could point me on how this feature could be done in ice as i think that this could be the only fast way to automatically arrange uv island into one single uv space.
thanks

Re: uv packing in ice
I've just found this thread from 2012, but non-ICE (Unfold) : http://www.si-community.com/community/v ... =12&t=2327
Re: uv packing in ice
thanks for the link qwesto, i did found that link already, unfortunatly its not working, the limitation comes as the original uvs as not being made with unfold in first place, so reapplying it aftwards fucked up the original uv, instead i simply wanted to take an x number of objects and pack the whole uv layout togheter.
this will overall change the uv anyway, but will keep the same islands, so i guess ice its still the only workable way to do it.

Re: uv packing in ice
I know what you mean - I always do my packing in 3D coat since we have no function for it.
I would love to write a plugin for that one day (if I ever find the time).
Are there any papers or approaches which one can read into when trying to do UV packing?

Re: uv packing in ice
well, i have found some info on the main google group of xsi, there is even on an old script to packing uvs (ive not tried that yet) and an ice approach, that to be totally honest i think could really work smootly, i need to dig in that, thats why i asked here, very strange that no one else recently need a uv packing function, naturally we all do our uv in our own way but a function like that whos implemented already in all autodesk programs seems a big lack.
Re: uv packing in ice
Do you have a link to that google thread?
Re: uv packing in ice
Must be possible, but doesn't seem to be there yet. Hope there's someone out there who's working on it.
