ICE and construction modes

Post by rray » 16 Apr 2014, 00:27

Hi all! Is it possible to access geometry data from a scene reference (point clouds, polygon meshes) using a different construction mode? (get data->geometry seems to use secondary shape always)

I remember some time ago there were shared ICE tree nodes visible inside the referenced objects (which might have been movable to a different point in the stack). But these have disappeared in some past version IIRC.

maybe i don't understand well but the clone point node do just that, you can move the reference in the stack. Is it that ?

What do you want to access ?
You could store attributes on your input geometry in the operator stack you want to have it in.
And then read those attribues.

Yes something similar to what clone point does but for "get data" (set to geometry).
I would need it to get locations (which to read point positions from). I could store them in an attribute but I think they would compute from the geometry from the top of the stack not from where they were stored.
