Cross-Section in ICE Cave

Post by sant0s » 31 Jan 2017, 17:09

hey all,

I build a cave animation in ICE.

now I need to create a cross section into the cave gangways.
if there would be no animation/turbulize in Z, I'd just polygonize the point cloud and use the slice polygon slice tool in y and give it some thickness - works so far.

but what if I need a cross section when the cave gangways move in Z, also?

maybe I could create a second point cloud thats emitting from the first point clou, calculate the distance between and then just delete one site?

anybody has some inputs how to realize that?

thx :)

Hey Santos,
you could try the bool operator that ships with implosia. its free now :)

works best when your mesh is triangulized...
you could just copy your cave offset it a little bit and bool it..
Cheers

hey CYTE,

I already tried that - and its technically working...
but since I have 3 dimensions, it will cut away alot of the parts that are in z/-Z achis and when the camera moves, I will just have artefacts in space :)

but I found a nice solutuoin: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... cE4rDVg7A4
