Are there any examples that show how to create custom real-time shaders.
For eg. shaders that utilize customized/precompiled/source cgfx/hlsl code (any code in that matter) with some explanation how/where/when to pass the transformation matrices, lights etc and the shader code.
Unfortunately, the “SimpleHWShader” example doesn’t explain too much.

I’m sorry but, I haven’t noticed your post In short: different job, different things to do, but only when I have some free time, I’m still trying to do some stuff for XSI.

I'm not very experienced in this area, having touched HLSL myself only for a bit (and what little I know is mainly from working with mental mill) but this was a good reference I found a while back, hope it's of some use:
