URGENT: forum bugs

Post by Hirazi Blue » 06 Mar 2014, 11:31

It has come to our attention some users experience problems posting, quoting and/or PMing (and perhaps other problems that haven't been reported yet). So far this appears to be session related, so logging out and logging in should fix it & otherwise switching to another theme (from “subsilver2” to “subsilver_black” or the other way around) might help. At any rate: report your problems! At the moment we do not yet have a clear picture of what’s going on (there’s a lot happening here, ATM, as you can imagine). Add your report in this thread or send me a PM, whichever works for you and please specify which theme you normally use.

the silver2 theme has had problems for about 5 days on Chrome on the Mac and IOS . the read/unread pearls in the first column are horizontally squished, and the Reply and New Topic button at the left of the screen when you view a thread are just one pixel wide.

@luceric - that's very helpful, thanks! As I'm using Opera ("classic") myself,
I haven't done any cross-browser inspection yet, which I will do now...
Sigh, what happened to my spare time?

The silver2 that I was using has disappeared with the reply buttons. So I was hitting quote and deleting the quote and posting. lol

Never thought about changing the theme. Dark theme is working fine.

I forgot to ask: please also mention the browser (and where applicable the device) you normally use...

I'm using Chrome and experiencing the same problems already mentioned with the subsilver2 theme, subsilver_black is working fine though.

Could someone please tell me what the situation is in Firefox?
I've tested it very briefly in Chrome and I cannot yet reproduce.
Which isn't meant as a generic "so it must be your own fault", BTW.

All of this will probably mean taking down the subsilver2 style "for maintenance",
but I am awaiting owei's verdict on this...

I use FF and IE/Modern IE daily (always latest version), and never had any issues with the forum, PM's or otherwise.

Don't know about Chrome, dont' use that one.....

Okay, this WILL be resolved, but it might take a while,
as I now am officially in despair, while still reeling from that little AD "stunt".
I will keep you posted.
Keep the replies/bug reports coming,
just don't expect a speedy resolution...

I just tested with FireFox and both themes work as intended, looks like its just Chrome having issues.

owei just informed me, he has made some changes to the forum software that hopefully will fix the problems experienced with subsilver2. So, now my question to you all is: do you still experience such problems or have they indeed been more or less fixed? (Hopefully more than less, obviously.)

No icons yet ... at subsilver2 in Chrome.

Okay, that's not good. But does the forum still function properly if you click "on" the missing icons?

PS And by "icons" do you merely mean the icons or also the buttons?

@all & FYI: If you do have to quickly switch to another style, you can do so through the URL,
you do not necessarily have to go through the User Control Panel (unless you want to make the style permanent).
Quoting myself from slightly more than a year ago, when we introduced our mobile style:
With a URL ending in ".php", add "?style=" plus a number to the URL, with a URL ending in anything else, add "&style=" plus a number:

The numbers are:
2 for subsilver2
7 for subsilver_black
8 for Artodia Mobile & SEO

URLs ending with "#p=" followed by a post ID don't work for this, you'd have to discard the "#p=" part before adding the "&style="
(Quoted from here)

no change. the new topic/reply icon are just one pixel larger, that's the problem.
