Re: MilanVasek wips
thanks guys, im glad you like it
this is hopefully final version of lava cave with correct gamma (there should be monsters on the right side visible a little bit)
and here is another image from the series
this one needs quite some work...

Beautiful work Milan. Maybe it's just me, but at least the lava scene (but also the others, too) strongly reminds me of Lucasarts' adventure games of the late 80s / early 90s. Which is a good thing

Re: MilanVasek wips
wow, beautiful!
Would you share some Infos how you did the shading?
It looks like a mix of some techniques... very nice!
edit: I mean the images with the girl on the planet previous page, btw.

Re: MilanVasek wips
well, there is nothing really special about shading. arnold standard shader, no textures, just simple color and subsurface on almost everything and big soft area lights... + outlines on top rendered with mental raysant0s wrote:wow, beautiful!

Re: MilanVasek wips
Where did the grain (that does work in this case IMHO) in the last image come from, shading, rendering or post?

Re: MilanVasek wips
oh, that's because im using very very low sampling for preview render it's really more like a sketch right now, so there was no point in rendering in nicerHirazi Blue wrote:Where did the grain (that does work in this case IMHO) in the last image come from, shading, rendering or post?

Re: MilanVasek wips
Aha, but like I said: it works. Worth considering to keep some grain in?

Re: MilanVasek wips
I have one more question to the planet shot
How did you shape the landscape? By moving points/edges/polys by hand?
Push on a plane and shrink the finished surface around a sphere?
Looks wired but cool.

Re: MilanVasek wips
not sure, but i can try it in comp once i have final clean image renderedHirazi Blue wrote:Aha, but like I said: it works. Worth considering to keep some grain in?
i started with icosahedron (sphere made of triangles) and extruded some polygons inside to make the path. then made some manual adjustments with tweak tool and then subdivided everything once or twice and applied simple randomize point position in ICE, but only to area defined by a weightmap. that was itsant0s wrote:I have one more question to the planet shot
