Re: MilanVasek wips
You wrote, that you used Arnold for rendering. I'm fed up with switching between Modo, LW and SI and like to jump up on the Arnold train. Can you tell me how to and how expensive it's gonna be with a few render nodes?

@Pancho - AFAIK pricing for Arnold still has not been officially announced, so there's only rumors floating around, with most people reluctant to pay these rumors too much heed. There seems to be an apparent consensus - though this isn't official either, I believe - that there will initially be a five-seat minimum when buying Arnold.
Perhaps Siggraph will provide us with some new and - more importantly - official news.
There are some Arnold related threads on this forum where you probably will get better information...

I probably can't say anything about that. (NDA)Pancho wrote:You wrote, that you used Arnold for rendering. I'm fed up with switching between Modo, LW and SI and like to jump up on the Arnold train. Can you tell me how to and how expensive it's gonna be with a few render nodes?
But as Hirazi mentioned, it was discussed somewhere around here...
Re: MilanVasek wips
Thank you so much for the compounds!! These are some of the most usefull and powerful ICE tools I have seen. I will put them to use today! Your render work is inspireing as well. Thanks!

Re: MilanVasek wips
I wouldn't say 3ds max is stupid,
actually no app is stupid (with the exception of maya trollolololol)
It is more about the artist's ability
to do creative work and use the most out of the program he chooses
On the other hand I do believe that softimage is the "strongest" application overall
and in 2nd place i would put blender!
also Milan is doing fantastic work

Re: MilanVasek wips
hey. i still haven't finished the Defender scene. mostly because i've found a new hobby and i'm spending most of my time making teapots http://www.milanvasek.com/?page_id=254 it's so cool to make something and feel it with your hands
anyway, when i got to Softimage i was playing with ICE a little bit. here are two tests i did recently:
btw, Softimage rulez of course

Hey Milan nice pottery and crazy Motion Graphic like stuff
You have a good taste that shows aestheticaly in many different mediums, as it seems

hehe, seems like CGI and pottery are often used together - my boss is a grandios potterer, too.
Nice Teapots and nice ICE work!

Re: MilanVasek wips
here is the scene file with the latest test. there are only objects and ICE stuff. no shaders or lighting
http://www.milanvasek.com/downloads/icetest003.zip
btw, there is another weird thing. i exported model with pointclouds and ICE trees with subframe sampling set to 2. but when i imported this model into new scene, it was using only 1 subframe sample no matter what i set (i tried put it back to 1, then 2, 3...) and the only solution was to create new pointcloud, copy the whole ICE tree manualy and set subframe samples to 2...
is it just me or did it happen to anyone?

Re: MilanVasek wips
i've slowly started learning python and i decided to make some buttons that will simplify working with my scatter tools (and make them easier to use for people who are still afraid of using ICE). they actually create ice nodes, let you pick some objects in viewport, inspect those nodes later so you dont have to open ICEtree and similar basic stuff like those things in new ICE panel...
and one more ICE test i did some time ago...
and now back to work with maya...
