Pagani Zonda Cinque

Post by nas » 05 Apr 2011, 11:13

Hi!

This is my new wip. It's a limited edition Pagani Zonda. I've been working on it for about 2 months on and off. I started the scene in mental ray but i've made a decision to try arnold and see a different workflow...

These are mental ray renders...

Actually, I like that car alot, then again I have always like supercars. That car costs over a $1 million easy and is extremely fast and well built. Only 5 exist in the entire world - hence the name Cinque, which means "5" in Japanese.

As for the renders, Nas, you make some awesome renderings of automobiles. I really like your lighting setup and detail in this one. Did you do anything particluar in the lighting scheme at all that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks for the comments guys!

The light setup is very simple at the moment - 3 point lighting. I have a few others around the car to set off light speculars, i have turned the diffuse off for them. There's also a studio hdri in the environment pass shader to cast reflections. The final gather takes quite long to process with not a lot of noticeable difference , i 'l probably fake it with more lights later on... As i get more specific with the shots i want to render, the above will probably get tweaked but at the moment it's acceptable.

Arnold as i've discovered over the last few days is difficult to convert to halfway through a project because of the material and uv setups, so mental ray will stay:(

Different renderer, different workflow and shaders. You don't want to go through setting it up all over again halfway in.

Looks fabulous - my only crit would be though, that I find the big highlight on the right side to be a bit "random" and possibly too blown out. I think it should continue throughout the entire lengt of the car.. more or less. but others wise very nice :ymapplause:

Thanks Zafar Iqbal, the reflection is tough to get right, the bodywork goes wider at the point of the door seam which makes it fade away..

Here's a new render - fixed stretching on certain CF parts, added fill light to front of car, added more texture to bottom of tyre, brighter reflection in headlights and higher AA...whew, think thats all.

Thanks guys, appreciate the positive feedback!

Here's a rear shot, it has a lil less contrast and much less banding on the bgd( forgot to add grain the the front shot to stop it from happening).
