an ordinary story

Post by shadow_ex_ » 08 Sep 2010, 08:54

Hello everyone,I'm Shadow Explorer,
here's some characters from a project i have in development.

As a project it started 10 years ago by me and a good friend ;)
I started to learn 3d in 2006 using 3ds max and
one year ago i switched to softimage as my main modelling program
(i can model in maya too)

Very nice! B-)
Could you tell us a little bit more about the project?
Is this meant for an animation or for a game for instance?

My dream is to make it a video game, thats why i went 3d in the 1st place, however i dont have the knowledge needed (mainly programming)but i miss other skills in 3d as good rigging...

so i create the content, like they are going to be in a game, and i plan making an illustrated book of the story
the story itself takes place in a fantasy world were variations of real world civilizations exist in the same timeline
there are also other fantasy influences as well ;)

the story follows a group (or band should i say :p ) of adventurers
the characters themselfs are inspired of my friends, and some famous people i admire
but since i ran out of them i continoued using ref from the internet (for their faces that is)

an example :

and a steam locomotive Image

Hirazi Blue thanks for the comment,im glad you like it^^

I have changed the title of the thread to reflect the fact you changed it to a more general WIP thread... Feel free to change it to anything more appropriate... ;)

i have no problem with the name,
they are still part of the same story though (yes i know it sounds weird, until everything is explained)^^

for instance
for central europe will be portrayed in a gothic\neogothic style
greece will still keep its ancient style but its a fantasy story

and japan will be portrayed more or less the same way as it is today

this thing will be sinjuku square one day, thats where the cars fit^^

well,im sorry, maybe its my fault, not be able to explain everything that the project is,
its going on for about 3,5 years of 3d modeling

so i posted stuff i recently did with softimage (well the steam train is half max half softimage),and see if people have something good or bad to say about them^^

for now on i will post current stuff and maybe do some back tracking at times
after all when i finish the project, you will be able to see everything ;)

Nice update - have you been working on the pirate and the car at the same time? seems like you are spitting out models :S

Can I ask what your workflow is regarding the car? I can't seem to find a good one with splines.
