Hello,
I am working on a shader which can create rim light around and object without light in a way to optimize the render and the process for the post production.
It can be very useful to create rimlight pass.
Actually you can create different rim : left, right, top, bottom, back, front and setting different thing like rotation, spread, smooth, fg contribution ...
You can also apply SSS and get different RGB pass like Light RGB and SSS RGB.
The shader work with the vector of the mesh, follow the camera movement and support displacement.

The version with the SSS feature (like on the video) will be released soon

I been wanting to do more compsiting and this will be a great tool to have. thank you for sharing,
but is it easy to match what you have going on on your beauty pass. or is it mostly used to just had another layer on top?

@jujut - I fully agree that it's an amazing shader,
but you could have appended your post to the existing thread about your rimlight shader.
Would have made me feel slightly less ignored...

Well it's his shader, I think if you create something you should make your own thread about it, with pictures or videos presenting it in the very first post of that thread.

My smilie (this one ) already was used to denote that the remark wasn't all that serious. However, I still feel I should be allowed to point out that a similar thread has already been opened (almost a month ago) by myself, even if that doesn't have any consequences to this thread or the OP of this thread whatsoever...

Looks like a great shader! I love the idea of being able to simulate sss without all the precalculation, samples etc.

@angelous4x : thanks, the beauty render (final on the video) is a render of the shader only, there is no light or other pass. But the shader can be use to separate light (rgb) and SSS effect (RGB) for postproduction
@Hirazi Blue : it's ok because this shader present on this post is not really the same like on your post. Here this is a new version of the previous shader with the possibility to apply the fake light with subsurface (on 3 level)
@mattmos : this shader works actually with a lightmap like other subsurface shader but without light
If anybody want to try it let me know i can give the actual (wip) version.
I will upload it soon and make some screen on how use it.
