Just an Idea I had - a different take on fishing? I'm currently working to finesse the idea . . . This is just a WIP image, so excuse the quality. If anything I would like to 'push' the Sudsurface Scattering, and enhance the VRay render settings. I'm thinking of adding something to the foreground and to definitely make his fishing clothes more detailed (Maybe an oversized Zipp?) Let me know your crits and comments chaps. Thanks

Re: The Fishing Hole
Another Work in porgress . . . Busy animating this little dude and Camera. The idea is that he's posing with this awesome 'catch' as a buddy (off Camera) focuses, and then snap - picture taken. I want to add a cigar to the character, add texture to the 'sign rope,' sort out water drops on apple (They seem pushed back into the apple?) I think it will add to his nature and bring something else to this little guy? Let me know your thoughts. C&C'c welcome. Oh, grass is created by Zybrand Grass 3 - really cool. Stay tuned for animation in the upcoming days.

It's coming on nicely!
I've got 2 comments. The DOF falloff looks a bit strange, are you using a depth pass or just blurring it in Photoshop?
And I like the highlight on the old apple more than the new one. The new one looks to blown out and my eye keeps being drawn to it, maybe a highlight between the first and second would look better but that is just my preference.
keep up the good work!

Re: The Fishing Hole
Hey, I agree . . the DOF is in the back ground, and the blur upfront is an edge blur, so maybe for final I should drop the edge blur? Just an effect I was going for . . .
I'll tone back the highlight on the apple, just a post exposure ramp. I tell you what though, I still feel as thought the apple could do with a stronger rim light - on the right of screen.

Re: The Fishing Hole
I like the blur upfront just don't think the edge blur is giving you the best result. Its blurring parts that should still be in focus as well so it does not look like the blur is coming from the lens. I've not worked with vray before but maybe you are better of tweeking your camera settings so that it blurs the upfront as well.
In this clip I had no time for post and all the DOF in the foreground and background comes from the scene scale and the camera settings. I image there would be a very short field of focus in your scene because the worm is so tiny making it a macro shot.
Ignore me if that is not the look you are going for
I agree, more of a rim light on the apple would bring it forward from the background a bit.

Zybrand - that's freakin awesome mate. Thanks for the advice, I'll definately consider doing the DOF in camera. Looks like a winner for this piece i'm working on. Thanks for the Heads up again.
