fun with strands
Re: fun with strands
Thanks Ronaldo,
I edited and posted these shots (some unfinished) to show what softimage can do out of the box, no plugins were used except arnold for rendering, with some ice knowledge you can do some crazy behavior, can we do this in maya or 3ds max? Can we do this in any other 3d soft? houdini maybe?
Lot's of questions lately...
Cheers, Wim

Re: fun with strands
Without plugins you can only do it in Softimage, even i don't know about strands in Houdini, should be possible but much more elaborated.
There is no question that Autodesk killed a software that is in front in several areas of everything else.
That is why i don't understand why many people seem to be like headless chickens going around, except those that work mostly in an area that Softimage does not have an advantage.
Deciding to change in 2017 or 2018 makes much more sense.

Amazing work.
I'm wanting to learn strands stuff like this, how did you learn to do these techniques?. Do you have any links to some advanced strand tutorials?

Re: fun with strands
great work, makes me doubt if I should ever stop using softimage.
Re: fun with strands
Then just don't, it will stay in my toolbox for many years to come until I find an alternative for this kind of work.
Maybe houdini, but how long will it take me to learn it?
