Topic: How to map opacity on a fast sss shader?

Post by cgeye » 19 Jun 2009, 02:18

Hi,
Iam new to xsi, I wanna know if there is a way of mapping opacity (on or with ) an SSS shader, there is no opacity slot on it. And I dont find a way for combining it whith an other shader.

The object is a golden fish, the fast skin shader works fine for the scattering effect but I want to fade out the tale with an opacity map.

Please Help.
Thx.

I can't really check this (or be more specific) at the moment, because I'm not "near my own Softimage", but you'll probably have to look into the SimpleSSS- or SkinSSS-compounds. They should provide you with the necessary color information (not the material info, the "Fast Simple Subsurface Scattering Shader" and the "Fast Skin Subsurface Scattering Shader" provide). Plug this output into some other shader as an input and map your opacity map on that... :-?
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

It Works perfectly!! Just with a simple SSS compound, and a mix 2 colors.
Thank you ;)
