Random Thoughts - SoftImage edition

Post by Shredder565 » 28 Oct 2018, 15:17

How come whenever I open a file, I get 'this file was created using a student version of soft image'
yet, I clearly have the educational version (Really wish I could upgrade to a full version now that I can afford it..sigh). Even when I create a file in this version of the program, I STILL get that error message popping up each time. highly annoying.

I really wish Autodesk would throw us a bone and offer a subscription free update every 5 years. it's rather sad this being 2018 and I will forever only see 'SoftImage 2014' whenever I start the program up.
sigh. I'm too old to learn another program these days. Idon't have the patience for it!

Isn't a 'student version' not the same as a 'educational' version? Just asking, as I never used SI in that way....

And yes, learning something new, especially something complex like a 3D application can be quite time consuming.

Don't expect anything from AD regarding Softimage, it's being buried a long time ago.
if you want to switch, I might suggest taking a look at Blender. It's free, Open Source, and with 2.8 it looks like it will gain a lot of ground a lot of the workflow is 'standardized'.
But any switch will take time.

Yeah, the educational license will put out files with that stamp saying it's the student version. Curious, where did you download the educational license? As far as I know it's impossible now....
