I want to edit together all the best bits of Soft history and the people that made it for a single 4-5 min tribute vid... I have time on my hands today and this weekend but I need content, in decent resolution if possible. I tried using some web downloader/ converter but its files are unreadable by any editing/quicktime prog... and the res is awful on some.

Maybe we can all work together, share assets ect.... I could set up a drop box if people have videos they would like to contribute for this montage/tribute/final demo reel. There is a ton of footage out there....but gathering it would be more than chore. Quicktime with a high bit rate h264 would be ideal.

Let me know what you think.

Lovely work Owei ... simply amazing! I can't help much since I'm a beginner, but I've decided that I'll continue studying Softimage and use it for as long as I can. If that implies I can't get a job because I don't use Max or Maya, you know what? So be it ...

Hi, speaking as a fellow student here going to graduate...try to at least be sure you are able to work with other DCC applications should the need arise. :) Even if this issue wasn't going on now, not every studio will accommodate artists' personal preference for their app, and you will feel left out if you are unable to help contribute...

I don't know where you are based, but I would make sure you are proficient with whatever major DCC app is already in use in the pipeline (probably Maya/3ds max depending on where you are), it is perfectly fine to use XSI wherever you know it will be faster...but imho more important not to screw up a studio's existing workflow sometimes.

Also, if you know both, you can help x-train people more easily :D

Yeah ... I've been using 3ds Max with Softimage, because here in Brazil is Max land and lots of great tutorials are on it. But lately my idea is about opening something on my own. That way, I can use Softimage whenever I want.

Owei, I'll think about something and I'll write it.

I had no idea my work was so bad back then.

Yes, I look very different now.

That video is great stuff. It was a joy to watch. Things have come a long way since back then, no? Lol

Btw, you could have easily been a double for Joe Pantoliano.
