Meta mesh 1.1

Post by mc_axe » 30 Jul 2015, 00:23

Meta Mesh is a powerful modeling tool that suggests a new modeling technique by allowing you to interactively weld and hollow out your object in the viewport. With Meta Mesh, you can easily weld and hollow out SubPatch objects without spoiling models, as if by editing Metaball, just like a perfect metal worker. Meta Mesh could potentially advance your modeling workflow.

Seems great. This kind of stuff is what brings people to a software.

I would say Meta Mesh looks more interesting than MeshFusion.

Pretty cool indeed, yet I would rather think it was different than 'more interesting' than MeshFusion though,
Meshfusion generates an extra dense mesh, but its visibly very accurate around blending intersections 'no matter what'.

And I don't think it's for nothing that the clip shows always with the overlayed wireframe,
at intersections with very steep or non-perpendicular angles, there is noticable wobblyness going on, but resulting mesh still looks veary clean.

Performance wise, the clip feels somewhat sped-up but I may be wrong, but even if sped-up it still looks quite snappy,
and of course no need to retopoligize anything, and looks really great to make base meshes even if wobbliness may need to be addressed after the merging.

Also the name reminds me of "Metamesh Extreme" which was a Soft|3D Sub-D Plugin from PheonixTools :p

Another cool stuff for Lightwave.

I have been constantly dumbfounded by the lousy work all main 3D applications are doing.
Is that being part of a big company turns otherwise good people bad due to dealing with so much crap, bureaucracy, office infighting? and also that bad quality people prosper in that environment? Looking at output 2 or 3 persons can do compared to giants like Autodesk, Maxon. It is a disaster.

Wow! That is really impressive. I think a lot of people tend to forget about Lightwave as an alternative.

Wow indeed. Actually it is.. very attractive as a modeling suite. I know there are some things with Blenders grease pen and addons that do that.. but.. I haven't investigated.

I like that workflow, almost a perfect marriage between drawing and 3D modeling.

Those guys should start developing on Fabric Engine ;)
Would love to see such tools for all packages.

Definitely never ever gonna touch Lightwave.
