It is! Your videos are not only fun, but you have a knack for explaining these concepts!

Hi guys - next blog post is up (with installation guides for Softimage and Maya): http://fabricengine.com/why-is-portability-important/

This is stuff we wanted to do before but lacked the resources, so please be patient as we build up the required entry-level material. There is much cooler stuff coming, but we have to do things in a useful order for a complete newcomer to FE2.

Cheers,

Paul

Ok. I think a "re-release" of FE2 - read that as a new contact with GFX websites and forums- when all those tutorials are made is warranted. Only then people at large can understand what is FE2,how can it help them and go to learn it. As it is now is a bit of firing blanks for those that aren't in contact with nodal 3D world.

Btw any ETA for the 3DsMax version?

Hey Bullit,

There are many people already up and running with Canvas who have been working with Fabric Engine for the last few years. Granted the ICE crowd needs some resources to transition and see how the workflows compare. That's the goal with these videos. Even when ICE came out, there was a gap in resources for artists. We'll be digging into things with a bit more meat after we cover the topics that allow artists to get going.

Good point about that video. It does not cover setting the variables. I think that is a very good idea to cover this in one of the next videos. Noted.

As a quick response, the prompt.bat file that you double click sets the variables for you and opens the command prompt. If you right click on the prompt.bat file you can edit it (don't edit the default one, make a copy). It opens a text editor and you can change the variables to include custom paths. I'll be sure a video covers this.
Hi Eric

Thanks, I'm going to do a video specifically about environment variables this week to give a bit more insight on what is going on. Stay tuned!

How about Canvas samples, just a bit more than now. Perhaps some commercial set - I'll be a happy buyer.

We've got a bunch of Canvas presets coming from the team, should be in the next week or so.
