Wow, what an unexpected and awesome upgrade! I have to admit that the old style is still embedded in my brain, but it alrdy feels more fresh advanced and not completely alien which is a very good sign.
Finally i can visit on mobile (withour the need to zoom in on active topics).
Hidden content: [ Show ]
But most importantly, passwords, old content old emoticons, even avatars, are preserved!, so some of the old identity is still here :D
Ill spend some time to see how quotes videos etc, are integrated, first impression on mobile and pc is awesome!
Congrats rray and everyone involved!

Also I've been meaning to ask,
what would you think of having things more centric to the  Active Topics  page ?

Meaning as the actual home page, and the page that we are lead to when logging-in / logging-out ...
and from where we could post new topics while setting the category in the topic editor.
(instead of having to navigate to the board index, and enter the category to create a new topic)

:-?
Sounds interesting. Would prefer that. Not sure if I can do that though, I'll try to find out.

Okay, it would be great in regards how the site is typically used, but ok too if system not made like that.

Also, i've seen the backround change a few times, if you'd like, here is a ver. of the logo (transparent PNG) than can be on any (light or dark) background

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/sxo ... o.png?dl=1

It can also be with just a drop shadow to separate from BG. (let me know if suggestions or changes)

( BG is already pretty cool with the fading though :-) )

My observations:
  • Old threads with 'rimg' tag show just the link in a text instead of the actual picture, would be nice if is possible to mass convert those tags to just 'img' but there is also the =numeric part :[
  • Links have very simmilar text format color with the plain text, would be nice if they can stand out more somehow (make them easy to spot), because sometimes when you revisit old thread you just want to click something really quickly.
  • In mobile i cant click off the welcome anouncment and i get an error.

Thanks. Links are fixed, the welcome announcement issue might be temporary - you can't close it if you've been logged out from somewhere else for example, you'd need to log in again.

Mass replacing is too dangerous (involves SQL which I'm no good at), but I'll try reintroducing rimg as a tag, but not adding the button.

*seems to work like this*

One (minor) thing that I noticed was the donate button seems to be surrounded by a white frame
(specifically in firefox, and not in Chrome)

Also, I know it's good for it to be clear when we are logged-in or not.

But considering that most of the time (if not the very large majoraty of the time)
we don't log-in unless wanting to post or reply to something,
and even then typically logging-out almost immediately after...

(and basically what we see when just visiting)

... would something like changing the base intentsity/color of background of the outer frame
(the part that just became transparent)   be possible?

As opposed to all-out getting rid of the background entirely altogether to blank light grey when not logged in?

Indeed it was already faster than before (because of compression) , but now board refreshes are almost instant :)

I also love the fact that topic titles precede the 'si-community' token in page titles!

Kudos!

Cheers :) We took a bit of a risk there because there's no going back from PHP7 on owei's web hosting company.

I just replaced the logged out theme with the "classic light" theme. I like the dark theme better - would like to swap them out but that would break everyone's habit. No idea how to improve the light theme, it looks so bleak compared.

Can you post a screenshot of the white frame around the donate button? Can't see it (the frame) :)

Actually i dont know if you chaged it after or before writing this,
but at least for me, both are looking pretty sweet right now!
