This is just a quick post to let everyone know that the Community Animation Project is still very much going ahead. We are currently working out a plan on how to approach the project and yous will be hearing an announcement from us soon.

stay tuned for updates

Kev.

Don't want to annoy you unnecessarily (only necessarily, of course! :D),
but are there any updates so far? :!!
This initiative seems to be losing momentum fast, I'm afraid,
so maybe an update on "what's cooking behind the scene" may be in order. ;)

yes, a project status update would be nice. Has the story/characters/concept been developed yet? or is that still in the air?

Don't let the shockingly low traffic fool you: the concept threads are still alive!
Behind the scenes there is some discussion how to proceed
(due to the aforementioned shocking lack of traffic) but that's another story... ;)

Am I missing something, or has the "Community Animation Project" died (or is it just sleeping)? i-)

I had an idea to pick up the pace of the CAP.

There is irc at freenode that is dedicated to free projects. Some are open source but I think any cooperative project is viable.

This might stimulate more user response. Although it would/might draw the attention from here, and someone has to take the task of being an OP it might be interesting.

anyway just a thought.

Something like that probably isn't such a bad idea...
It would have been nice, if it worked as planned, but the CAP in it's current form seems to be doomed... So maybe severing the/some ties with our little community might be the only way forward. :-?
Any more suggestions to restart/revitalize the CAP are more than welcome... %-( :D

Just seems to me that IRC invites participation. So maybe that would prevoke activity.

Well, I'm basically still waiting for some input from opentarget and/or redmotion, our two original designated CAPtains... :!!

Yeah, well ... Thanks for the replies, but I don't think there is ~immediate interest anyway.

did somebody say Mutiny? I think we're in need of some dedicated project managers. People who have experience babying a project along from start to finish, and somebody who isn't going to disappear after a few months leaving everyone leaderless.

I'm an animator with prod. experience from modeling to compositing. While i'd love to head this project with a few others, I don't have that project manager expertise that I think we're in need of.

Is there anybody out there interested in the CAP that HAS some sort of project/production manager background?

All the Best!

While a little mutiny might sometimes definitively be a good thing, I am still hoping to reach the original CAPtains (I've sent them both a friendly PM!), so this "state of affairs" can be cleaned up with the least amount of virtual bloodshed...
:D :ymhug: ^#(^ :-

while i agree mutiny is inevitable if I dont get my finger out and get things moving, I would ask for another chance... :-ss

the original idea was to get people to contribute to the story end of the project so everyone felt included in the story development, while it was a great idea it seams to have fallen flat with very low responses from the forum users.

there is defiantly interest out there but people dont seam to want to contribute in the way we have set up at the start.
i propose that people should send in synopsis or ideas on a short that they would really love to see made, you can use any of the inspirational words from the other posts in the CAP section of the forum or you can start afresh whichever you chose.
send us screen plays or notes or just concepts...anything!

we will then put things to the vote and whichever comes out top wins the prize of the weight of the community working to tell your story!

so post up some ideas in the new CAP thread "Ideas and Synopsis"

As a moderator ^#(^ of this community I feel obliged to state the painfully obvious:
In the spirit of "new beginnings" :ymparty: I've locked all the old topics concerning the CAP (except this one) and added the clarifying prefix "[ARCHIVED]" to every title.
