Softimage 2015 missing?

Post by luchifer » 18 Mar 2014, 20:01

I know its EOL, but Autodesk at least should have prepared a page with the last features of Softimage 2015.

Althoug, Mudbox seems to be missing too.

Comparatively to Maya not a lot. ShaderFX is about the strongest of the lot. My twitter is blowing up with the max users I follow so far very few of them are happy.

Max users are furious man...even the fan boys are tripping...because ADSK said "no plans to EOL Max"...but its clear that Max days are numbered too. If you need any further proof, look at the release notes for Mudbox 2015.

Yep. many maya interlop stuff.

In my deepest of heart, I wish AD EOL max as well. The real reason would only be so that AD gets EOLed after that.

Considering how big of a cow cash Max is, I wouldn't be too concerned about it for the foreseeable future. But then again foreseeable future with Adsk is particularly short.

They have their Media and Entertainment Show Reel 2014 shown their as well, which features the best and most innovative for the year using their software of Maya, Max and Softimage. When I was watching it, I saw that we made it in with our game Blaster X HD. It might be a small section that we are shown, but I feel it was quite an honor for a 2-man Indie team to make it in with a mobile game for iPad, and be included right beside the AAA giants in the industry.

Our game was completely made with Softimage and I don't know how we would have been able to do it using anything else. There is a small part of me holding onto the hopes of a miracle, especially as I think 2015 has some nice features. We have 2 years to make awesome work and hopefully change their minds. Wishful thinking, but you never know...
