I decided to sign up. Blueprints look great, along with the material system. Seems truly next gen, coming from Source/Hammer. How long till Source2 is released and what will Hammer be like.....

I think the open source code will generate amazing things.. For instance....

Just solved yesterday, rigged FBX import ( using Species rig and Facerobot ) works, the only thing you need to do while import is to enable "Import Meshes In Bone Hierarchy" in the Advanced tab ;)

By the way this engine is pretty damn awesome!
And the Blueprints system allows various degrees of modification...not yet extensive geometry modification ( ala ICE ) but it can drive anything :)

I think I'll make a videotutorial in a couple of days ;)

Unreal Engine 4.1 is out!

Too many updates to list.... I think there's more updates in 1 month than Softimage received in 2 years...

Can't wait to tryout the vehicles template!

Forgot to say thanks! Looks really easy. I'm almost ready to import characters; still working on static meshes... Figured out how to render alphas on objects and how to model\import collision objects. Hopefully characters will follow soon!

Thanks :)

I'm testing my workflow using Softimage and some features I'm developing.

Facerobot Rig + Dynamic normal maps to enhance facial expressions...this is just a proof of concept, soon I'll make a Tech Demo to show some other stuff as well...
Anyway UE4 is pretty damn cool and having a bit of experience in ICE helped me quite a lot using Blueprints in order to achieve the desired result!

Unreal Engine 4.2 is out. I've been eagerly awaiting this since it was announced. Looking forward to trying out the vehicles!

PS. "The FBX importer as now been upgraded to the 2014 version from Autodesk."

PPS. The Stylized Rendering showcase was already released, but I thought it looked quite nice, so I included pic here.

Is it me or they were inspired by ICE for the visual scripting?
Now there is even the possibility to access geometry at vertex level and procedural geometry creation...this is pretty damn good!!!!

That's generous:

Fun fact: FBX is closed source format. Fuck you Autodesk, once again.

This is amazing, really am wondering if I should get more into game engine type work instead of just 3D authoring, since SI is dying/dead. Lovely software, looks great!

What would be the ideal alternative? Alembic? Curious as why software need to invest in this closed format. Would be nice to use something Open Source.
