Well, Solidangle did it ! just like that, the shading workflow of softimage transposed to Houdini, it's all here light shaders, environment shaders, material shaders, custom Framebuffers !

Actually, the shading workflow in houdini is very similar to the rendertree and even more comfortable. It's more a question of porting the shader nodes. The infrastructure is there, even more comfortable and versatile than SI. Still, I'm glad to see arnold in Houdini of course ;)NNois wrote:Well, Solidangle did it ! just like that, the shading workflow of softimage transposed to Houdini, it's all here light shaders, environment shaders, material shaders, custom Framebuffers !

Maya will be coming with it's latest recreation of acquired (then terminated) tech!
(in which it didn't really need to buy and kill to make it's own variation -based on something else entirely- Softimage would'nt have sued)
So better start moving to the 'dark side' now before it's too late! (when it'll all (further) mostly be all Maya, all over)
"dark side": (universal term coined when referring to moving from -any- package to Maya)
Then Houdini could kiss its insignificant ~3% market share goodbye! (except for the more intricate effects here and there)
Such a measly market share, even less than formerly Softimage, and it didn't even deserve to really exist so.
(soon everything will be Maya, as it should be)
All hail *the one and only*Maya! (the 'best')
Gnahaha
Re: A part of Softimage transposed to Houdini
Can't decide if that was sarcasm or you just trolling. Autodesk is known for their lack of innovation and Bifrost was never meant to be an ICE replacement.
I'll stick to Houdini thanks.

Re: A part of Softimage transposed to Houdini
It was an exaggeration of what seemed to be part of the thinking behind certain actions (concerning ideal 'domination')
And was exactly at the same time as a thread about Bifrost last summer.
Or when what was made to replace ICE after having retired it, was presented.
And I don't necessarily think it's as as much like "gnahaha", as it can be like us sometimes just wanting everything (without always considering certain things), but like on a pretty big scale. (with lots of repercussions)
